Historia
The car fire didn’t kill Navajo Tribal Policeman Delbert Nez—a bullet did. And the old man in possession of the murder weapon is a whiskey-soaked shaman named Ashie Pinto. Officer Jim Chee is devastated by the slaying of his good friend Del and confounded by the prime suspect’s refusal to utter a single word of confession or denial. Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn believes there is much more to this outrage than what appears on the surface as he and Jim Chee set out to unravel a complex weave of greed and death that involves a historical find and a lost fortune.

Revisado: 01-13-24
once again another great story and well read. The storyline is captivating and the narrator is fantastic.
I've been listening to this entire series and truly love it.
I have also been relistening to the stories and learning new and interesting details that I had missed the first time.

When the crows gather over a remote Navajo Reservation in the deep Southwest, it is a sign that the thin veil that separates our world from the one beyond is about to open. Without a barrier between life and death, things pass between both worlds. Some of them are good. Most of them are not.

boring boring boring
Revisado: 12-29-23
I am stunned at how boring this book is. I started with great expectations because it reminded me of other books I have read. At times I'm not sure if it's the reader or the text which is so horrible. I'm baffled why this would be so highly recommended. It's repetitive, feels unfocused and undirectional.
I do not recommend this book If you are interested in anything to do with the The Navajo Nation or spirituality.

Historia
In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric. After all, if we must discard the ideas of Kant, Hume, and Mill for their opinions on race, shouldn’t we discard Marx, whose work is peppered with racial slurs and anti-Semitism? Embers of racism remain to be stamped out in America, but what about the raging racist inferno in the Middle East and Asia?

spiritually uplifting
Revisado: 12-29-23
This is the second book I've listened to by Douglas Murray. Each one has been exceptional in its clarity in examining issues of the West and in particular the United States. It's courageous writing and it gives me courage, Hope and enlightenment. It also showed me the depths of evil revenge and racism that are tearing us apart.
I had no idea that plants could be racist. I had no idea that orchestral music was racist. I had no idea that Whistler had painted a racist painting and I too have enjoyed tea under it.
This book gives me hope that reason will triumph over the hypocrisy of our times.

Historia
In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

thoughtful provocative honest
Revisado: 12-23-23
The book that changed my mind on culture was "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" by Thomas Sowell. Now this book has altered my thinking, and giving me the language to confront current events.
I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to grapple with the events in American society today. This book is clear focused and honest.

Witchcraft, Hoodoo and conjuring
Revisado: 01-17-23
I practice Hoodoo, or conjuring. I am struck by the similarities between my practice and witchcraft with the exception that Hoodoo and conjures believe in God and we don't dance naked.
I found this book very inspiring very interesting and I will research Margaret Murray since she seems to be the founder of Wicca out of curiosity.
With that said, many of the statements in the book are historically inaccurate according to research in witchcraft. My statement is not to diminish the powerful message this book reveals.
I highly recommend everyone give this book a read. It's definitely worth your time.

Historia
Dame Sue Black is an internationally renowned forensic anthropologist and human anatomist. She has lived her life eye to eye with the Grim Reaper, and she writes vividly about it in this book, which is part primer on the basics of identifying human remains, part frank memoir of a woman whose first paying job as a schoolgirl was to apprentice in a butcher shop, and part no-nonsense but deeply humane introduction to the reality of death in our lives. It is a treat for CSI junkies, murder mystery and thriller fans, and anyone seeking a clear-eyed guide to a subject that touches us all.

Well worth the time
Revisado: 10-08-21
Although this book did drag, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed all the information. I learned so much and was able to share it with my family.
The author's experience in Sarajevo Kosovo are very similar to some of my own. I did tear up and find it difficult to listen on but, I persevered and was delighted with the information gathered and shared.
This is not a book for the squeamish. Yet, if you have an adventurous and curious mind it's an excellent read.

Better than I expected
Revisado: 10-01-21
I finished a few weeks ago Ghost Hunters by Deborah Blum. I'm a fan of Deborah Blum. I was curious if this book was written in the same style, Of course it isn't.
I did thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. What I found curious was where the Warren's and William James agreed on certain levels about spectral phenomenon. With that said, The Warren's have a much more spiritual outlook into ghostly phenomenon. The Warrens talk about demonization, categorize how it enters your body or takes over your life. That's what made this book fascinating.
Many of the stories they tell are difficult to believe. Yet I do not second guess they're personal experience. If you are interested in reading about the occult, spirits, ghosts, are demonization on a personal level I highly recommend this book.

thrilling listening experience
Revisado: 06-13-20
I have been listening to books on tape since the 1970s enjoying many classics from PD James to Sinclair Lewis.
Outside of Rumple of the Bailey I believe all of these HG Wells stories are thrilling, fascinating, and at times horrifying. These two stories are no exception.
Since I treat my audible books like bedtime stories I enjoy someone with a soft voice, and BJ Harrison has a great voice for just that. His voice is gentle and persuading, so you have an opportunity to truly listen to the story.
