while listening to them talking about the benefits of having non stitched baffling, I thought of another aspect. linear tensile strength is uniform when pulled along it's axis. once you have stitched a baffle you are now pulling from a say 30 degree angle off the weave plain, with a theoretical 70% increase in stress at the stitch points. random thoughts, great podcasts 👌

Historia
On this episode of the podcast, Joe sits down with Brigham (lead designer at Outdoor Vitals) to get into the nitty-gritty of exactly what is used to make your backpacking gear. The topics of this episode specifically dive into specific textile properties: fibers, yarns, and how those affect the fabrics that go into things like backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, and clothing. You'll learn all about man-made and synthetic fibers, some of the properties of common fibers such as polyester, nylon, wool, and cotton, amongst many other things. For those that want to get into the microscopic detail of ...

I love this. I'm autistic and I love the deep dive into textiles. I feel like Brigham and especially Tasson are alittle worn out on talking about textiles. Joe does an awe job of dragging the info out in an upbeat exited perspective. makes me want to quit being a machinist and become a product engineer.

ultralight backpacking meets running?!!!!?
Revisado: 08-22-22
listen at your own risk, you may find yourself running with a backpack on in the near future. this podcast turned me into a lunatic. logically I know running is definitely not improved by adding a backpack, and yet, after listening to this episode I find myself thinking it's such a good idea I'm now doing it. see lunatic!

"I didn't realize how much I would miss grocery shopping until it was gone." Life was pretty good. The love of Alice's life had proposed, they were proud new homeowners, and she'd just landed a great promotion at work. Things were going to plan. Well, they were, until the Red Death struck. Billions dead in a matter of weeks. The survivors are few and far between. No one is safe. Life will never be the same again.

Not a lot hapens
Revisado: 06-19-19
This is an interesting book with not a lot of action or tension. Only one scene of potential violence. It feels very real, but I also got a little bored and just as it seems they might add some strife and tension to the story, it ends. Apparently this is to be one of a series, but I always hate books that end on a cliffhanger and you have to wait months or longer to read the next chapter.

Historia
A teenage girl awakens to find herself trapped in a coffin. She has no idea who she is, where she is, or how she got there. Fighting her way free brings little relief - she discovers only a room lined with caskets and a handful of equally mystified survivors. Beyond their room lies a corridor filled with bones and dust but no people and no answers. She knows only one thing about herself - her name, M. Savage, which was engraved on the foot of her coffin. She finds herself in charge. She is not the biggest among them or the boldest, but for some reason the others trust her.

Hunger Ganes, Lord of the Flies, The Maze Runner,
Revisado: 07-26-15
What did you like best about Alive: Book One of the Generations Trilogy? What did you like least?
Felt like i've read this book before. Although it has a unique ending, I had figured out the surprise by 1/5 the way into the book. It was well written, but there have been so many of these post-appoc. teen fiction type books lately that it gets boring.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
More time spent exploring there environment.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Emma Galvin?
Tes, She was great.
Was Alive: Book One of the Generations Trilogy worth the listening time?
Sure, but not sure I will listen to the sequels,

Politics are annoying, but good story
Revisado: 03-13-15
This book would appeal most to preppers, right wing Christians and gun nuts. That's not to say it doesn't appeal to others (it does). If you find the whole idea that Obama is secretly plotting to destroy America so he can take away your guns and get you hooked on Welfare then it might be too hard to suspend disbelief. That said this was a very interesting and thought provoking read. Recommend to anyone into the whole survival genre
