Historia
Doris Grandfelt, an employee at an accounting firm, was brutally stabbed to death . . . but nobody knew exactly where the crime took place. Her body was found the next night, dumped among a dense thicket of trees along the edge of an urban park, eight miles east of St. Paul, Minnesota. Despite her twin sister Lara Grandfelt’s persistent calls to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the killer was never found.

Spellbinding as always, but...
Revisado: 04-07-25
It ends inconclusively. I hope Sandford is planning a sequel.
It's also beginning to bother me that key characters work for different law-enforcement agencies but always seem to be teaming up. How often does that happen in real life? I liked it better when there were the Prey books, the Flowers books, and the Letty books.

Set in 15th century Italy, and cast with a rogues’ gallery of colorful villains, Bellarion adroitly navigates the complicated world of dukes, counts, and countesses to rise to unusual prominence and serve a purpose all his own.

A Landlocked Captain Blood
Revisado: 12-18-22
Extraordinarily talented protagonist, misunderstood by the girl, conquers his enemies and eventually her heart. Same plot as the author's Captain Blood, perhaps a little less realistic, despite major roles for historical figures, but a great listen nonetheless.
The narration is excellent, and combined with Sabatini's facility with language and a twisty, battle-filled plot makes this an enjoyable 16-hour romp through 15-century Italy.

Historia
Anna Kendrick's autobiographical collection of essays amusingly recounts memorable moments throughout her life, from her middle-class upbringing in New England to the blockbuster movies that have made her one of Hollywood's most popular actresses today. Expanding upon the witty and ironic dispatches for which she is known, Anna Kendrick's essays offer her one-of-a-kind commentary on the absurdities she's experienced on her way to and from the heart of pop culture.

She's Scrappy
Revisado: 03-18-21
Anna Kendrick takes you on an amusing tour of her eccentric mind, and the trip is especially good by audiobook because she's talking directly to you, taking advantage of being able to use tone and volume to embellish the text.
I didn't know much about her, I don't think I've ever seen any of her movies nor did I know her from Broadway. She came to my attention in a Facebook interview with the British host Graham Norton where she talks about fake and real British accents in Britain; she was funny and not afraid to laugh at herself. Once you click on one of those videos, the bots start serving you up other Anna Kendrick stuff, and I watched a bunch and thought she was really interesting. (She's also a dead ringer for one of my friends).
Then, totally by accident, I caught parts of Pitch Perfect 3 on cable one Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't really my kind of movie, but I liked her. By this time, I knew she'd written a book, so I picked it up on Audible.
She starts with her childhood in Maine and early stage career in Manhattan, and then goes off into thematic chapters. There isn't much Inside Hollywood stuff here, but she takes you through the life of a young actress getting on her feet in the film industry and becoming an adult. Some reviewers seem to have found her love-life revelations shocking, but I thought it was interesting to see things through her eyes.
If you think Anna Kendrick is cool, you'll probably enjoy this book. She's young to be writing a biography, and she doesn't name a lot of names or tell you stuff that somebody who isn't working in the film industry might be willing to spill, but her story is offbeat and fun.
