Historia
Doris Grandfelt, an employee at an accounting firm, was brutally stabbed to death . . . but nobody knew exactly where the crime took place. Her body was found the next night, dumped among a dense thicket of trees along the edge of an urban park, eight miles east of St. Paul, Minnesota. Despite her twin sister Lara Grandfelt’s persistent calls to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the killer was never found.

This is it for me, sadly ...
Revisado: 04-14-25
There's no way John Sanford wrote this. It's hard to understand what's happened. Sanford's previous novels (Davenport & Flowers) were witty, clever, humorous, & interesting with adult level character dialogue, interactions, & observations. These last couple of novels are absurdly juvenile. My guess is that someone's "ghost writing" the brand, and to add to my disappointment, the narrator is simply awful, almost as bad as the dialogue. Hard to lose one of your favorite authors!

Historia
“In wartime,” Winston Churchill wrote, “truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.” For Britain’s counterintelligence operations, this meant finding the unlikeliest agent imaginable - a history professor named Alfred Vicary, handpicked by Churchill himself to expose a highly dangerous, but unknown, traitor. The Nazis, however, have also chosen an unlikely agent.

Sadly, another example far too much minutia !!
Revisado: 03-14-25
Interesting plot & characters ruined by far too much superfluous information & scene setting. ... and it's a shame! A very interesting story that would have been better served by a listening time of 10 hours, or thereabouts!

Historia
People come to Los Angeles to chase their dreams. Sometimes they find themselves cast into a nightmare. And sometimes, the most ardent dreamers turn out to be the most vicious monsters. The body of an aspiring actress is found dumped near a hospital emergency room. She’s been drugged and murdered and the motive for the callous crime remains maddeningly out of reach. Until, a prime suspect materializes. Another Hollywood hopeful. Only to be shot dead by a sniper using a weapon that turns out to have been catalogued in a previous murder. And another, before that.

Sadly, My Last Delaware Listen ...
Revisado: 02-22-25
I wish someone could explain Kellerman's insistence on expending countless hours of listening time to exhausting descriptions of every piece of clothing each character is wearing .... every piece of furniture in every room ... every shrub & tree in every yard ... I'll take a dentist's Novocain instead, thank you. He actually described one character's "red toenail polish" in this one ... and that was important to point out, why ?

Awful, awful, awful .... !!
Revisado: 02-06-25
Simply a terrible listen ... juvenile dialogue, a terrible narrator & incredibly long and boring. Listening to an adult try to talk like a child, for over 10 hours no less, is akin to having multiple root canals !! Do yourself a favor and avoid this surprising disaster from an author that usually delivers the goods.

My 4th & Last Thursday Murder Club Mystery ...
Revisado: 10-05-24
There's a fine line between interesting & relevant detail, and irrelevant, boring, & tedious minutia. Clearly Osman hasn't been able to ascertain where that line is.
At 6-7 hours this could have been a clever & well-paced listen. Unfortunately, because the story contained 3-4 hours of silly abstract sub plots, the listen became tantamount to enduring a never-ending root canal.
Add in the narrator's annoyingly hard to hear whispering, and the total experience was certainly disappointing!!

Historia
Gaia is dying. That, at least, is what Dr. Lionel Scott believes. A renowned expert in tropical and infectious diseases, Scott has witnessed the devastating impact of illness and turmoil at critical scale. Society as it exists is untenable, and the direct link to Earth’s death spiral; population levels are out of control and people have allowed disarray and disorder to run rampant. While most are concerned about deadly disease, Scott knows that it is truly humanity itself that will destroy Gaia.

Historia
A pool boy enters a secluded Bel Air property and discovers two bodies floating in the bright blue water: Gio Aggiunta, the playboy heir to an Italian shoe empire, and a gorgeous, even wealthier neighbor named Meagin March. A married neighbor. An illicit affair stoking rage is a perfect motive. But a “double” in this neighborhood of gated estates isn’t something you see every day. The house is untouched. No forced entry, no forensic evidence. The case has “that feeling,” and when that happens, Milo turns to his friend, the brilliant psychologist Alex Delaware.
