Historia
Recently graduated at twenty-six, and two months behind on rent, Oliver Barnes is desperate. So desperate, in fact, that he applies for a job in the Greed district of Hell's Pentagram. But when he misses his train and, subsequently, his job interview, he stumbles, instead, upon a strange little coffee shop in the middle of Purgatory's barren desert—and into an unexpected opportunity. It isn't the job he came to Hell for, but maybe it's exactly the job he needs.

Humans and folks from Hell falling in love
Revisado: 04-23-25
I first started this on Kindle but my ability & time to sit and read was getting cut. I did a brief search and discovered my favorite narrator did this one so that was an instant buy. The friendships are real, the romance was sweet and the spice was HOT! Really the hardest thing to believe is that there was a healthy work environment.

Historia
Tyler Blackwood is definitely not making it to work on time. When he steps into the path of a speeding car, he’s whisked away by a flaming bird to a perilous realm of shapeshifters and magic straight out of ancient myth. He’d always wished for a chance to redo his life—but not like this. Immediately kidnapped by monsters, Tyler is rescued by Kalistratos, a ruggedly handsome rogue with the power to shift into a phoenix. Sticking by his savior’s side—even if Kalistratos wants nothing to do with him—is the only way he’s going to find a way back home. And it’s the only way ...

Fun story. virtual voice terrible
Revisado: 05-17-24
I wanted a fun story to listen to while doing laundry. Just listening to a short bit of the narration was painful. It was better to just read it.

Phex is a barista on a forgotten moon. Which is fine – he likes being ignored and he’s good at making drinks. Until one day an alien hears him singing and recruits him to become a god. Now Phex is thrust headfirst into the galaxy’s most cutthroat entertainment industry, where music is visible, the price of fame can kill, and the only friends he has want to be worshiped.

The comfort of a sun
Revisado: 03-12-24
Once again my favorite author has given me another comfort read. Not everyone wants to be thrusts into fame & glory. To be worshipped for their voice and shoulderblades. Working to be the best at creating something beautiful and godfix. The sun taking care of his pantheon and finding frustrating affection in a golden god that needs support to stay out of trouble. Can they find love when romantic attachments are forbidden?
Perfectly performed by the narrator. This has become another comfort listen just as Gail's other books have been.

Big City is supposedly the place where dreams come true. As someone just trying to live my life, I can tell you it’s more like a recurring nightmare where dreams get c*ckblocked at every turn. Especially if you’re a supervillain like me. The irony is that I have zero powers, despite coming from purebred villain stock, but try telling that to Big City’s beloved hero, Captain Masculine.

The Villains Hero Story I didn't know I needed
Revisado: 08-18-23
I have a new favorite series! I'll be reading the rest of the books, but I have things to get done and need the audio versions so I can keep going without stopping. I am so glad someone gave me more of the dirty side of heroes and the not so evil side of villainy. The narrations were perfect and I got through this book faster than I had planned because their voices made the words even better.

For centuries, Massimo D’Alba, banished prince of the Fold, has wandered through life frozen in darkness and pain. Betrayed by his younger, power-hungry brother, he’s existed for centuries but not lived. A rain-soaked night brings smart-mouthed New Yorker Damion Avery to his doorstep, and suddenly he’s riding spin bikes, shopping for yoga pants, eating ice cream…and falling in love. Greatly enjoyed
Revisado: 07-08-23
Everything was lovely and I was enjoying a nice story while doing chores, but I had to sit and smile for a while. The mentions of porphyria done in such a correct and respectful way is something I rarely ever find. Those of us born with the disorder are often called vampires and is where many of those myths come from. As one who has walked fully covered with a heavy veil to be outside, it felt amazing to be seen like this.
I also give props to the narrator for pronouncing porphyria correctly. I've had doctors & nurses struggle to say it.

Historia
Everyone has that special someone - their first love. The memory of that person who brings butterflies to your stomach and a smile to your lips. My first love was Owen Moore. He was my best friend's older brother - a broad, strapping alpha who never failed to make me feel safe. I spent most of my childhood at the Moore's house, their open warmth a welcome relief from the cold reception my own parents gave me. Owen never looked twice at me then. Now, I'm back in Blackwater, teaching at the local school. Owen's in Blackwater, too, protecting and serving as part of the police force.

Get better sound & editing equipment
Revisado: 05-11-22
It needs better editing with the sound. The end of many chapters are cut off with the abrupt "Chapter" and then the next chapter number. Which is louder than the narrator has been speaking. The narration continues like there never was a chapter break and the Chapter labels were overlaid after without being cut in correctly. You can hear the narrator swallowing and can tell when they are drinking and has background noise in a few places. The story was cute but I'll probably read the next books if they have the same narrator.

The decision has been made. Jessie has taken the magic and all the weird that goes with it. Including wings. There's only one problem - she can't figure out how to access them. Through a series of terrible decisions, Jessie realizes she must ask for help. Gargoyle help. But she could've never predicted who answers her call - he's an excellent flier, incredibly patient, and a good trainer. He's also incredibly handsome. And interested.

Captivating
Revisado: 07-29-21
As a woman in my 40s it's nice to have a character that is relatable. Not afraid to be herself and able to laugh at her own follies as well as the odd ball characters around her. The narrator is fantastic and really pulls you into the story even deeper.

Historia
For most people, the story of their lives is just that: the accumulation of time, encounters, and actions into a cohesive whole. But for an unfortunate few, that day-to-day existence is affected - perhaps infected is a better word - by memetic incursion: where fairy tale narratives become reality, often with disastrous results.

Being a fan of supernatural period dramas this was suggested on a fan page for my favorite author. Fantastic drama & a great introduction into this world. The performance was brilliant. I now have another series to devour.

She’s settling into her new role as the Countess of Goldengreen; she’s actually dating again; she’s even agreed to take on Quentin as her official squire. Life is looking up all around - and that inevitably means it’s time for things to take a turn for the worse. Someone has kidnapped the sons of Duchess Dianda Lorden, regent of the Undersea Duchy of Saltmist.
