Historia
The Great Crusade has swept across half the galaxy, a million human worlds now embracing the truth and reason that comes with allegiance to the rule of Terra. But even such unparalleled success comes at a cost. Rumours abound that the Emperor plans to step back from the Crusade and raise one of his primarch sons to lead in his stead. Faced with the bitterly noncompliant human empire of Gardinaal and a leaderless host of Ultramarines, Thousand Sons and Emperor’s Children at his Legion’s command, the Iron Hands primarch Ferrus Manus decides to make an example that even the Emperor cannot ignore.

Ferrus Overshadowed in His Own Book,
Revisado: 12-21-24
The writer is solid and knows the characters, the payoff comes in the last three chapters, but having read so many of the other books on the Primarchs, I feel like I still do not know Ferrus, Maybe the writers intention was to always keep him a mysterious figure, which he succeeded, but its to a detriment. Finally in the final chapters you see the Gorgon in his glory and folly, but I'd like to see the writer have another shot stories of Hand and Ferrus in all their magnificent carnage, rather than focus so much on their flaws and setbacks.

But the Hammer of Olympia is there for more than just battle - he is evaluating his new officers and deciding their fates. And with a force of Imperial Fists allied to their cause, Perturabo sees the perfect opportunity to teach his new warriors the difference between the stone of the VII Legion and the Iron of his own.

Iron Within! This is peak Peter-Turbo
Revisado: 10-11-24
Measured, indifferent, and always razor sharp. Perturabo like an accomplished father teaching life lessons to his slow children, with the bitter knowledge knowing they'll disappoint, never measuring up and be half the man he is, Nonetheless, it has to be done, and at the expense of Imperial Fists.

Good Sci-Fi Space Mercenaries Story
Revisado: 02-10-24
It's a coming of age story disguised as a planetary hopping merc company tale. Really good I enjoyed it a lot, coming from the BattleTech and Warhammer 40k enthusiast this was right up there. Classic heroes journey of a young kid scrapping away to secure his family legacy, a little power fantasy, boy gets magical pet, ultimate weapon in a mech, and gets the smokeshow girl in the end. Wish he'd had a little more physical development instead of being a fat slob the entire book, really makes his new girl come off like a gold digger in the real world, but hey this is an adolescent power fantasy so why not let the schlep get the wealth, fame and hottie too.
I also love the world building, the fallen nations, and the libertarian quasi corpo/government trying to maintain order from anarchy.
Highly recommended, it's a good story, worth the time, the voice actor was good, started out a little flat but he hit his stride. Will definitely keep the author on my watchlist here for more of his work.

Historia
Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States has sold over 2.5 million copies and is still required reading in some high school and college classrooms. But its polemic rewriting of American history as a story of oppression is an agenda-driven fairy tale that has no place in academia. In Debunking Howard Zinn, Mary Grabar debunks Howard Zinn’s lies and traces the damage his mega-bestseller has done to American education, culture, and politics.

Fantastic takedown of Zinn
Revisado: 12-17-19
breakdown with sources, catching Zinn's plagiarism, half truths and outright lies. it's a shame this work has been adopted by educators so widely and used to shape a generation.

Historia
In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

Another solid work from Douglas.
Revisado: 11-21-19
As his books are want to do they tackle taboo or difficult subjects. You may or may not agree, that is fine but in this book we have a reference point with data to build an argument.
The production is always good, Douglas is a good orator. Overall 4/5 stars for another fine piece.

Historia
Marsalis is one of a new breed...literally. Genetically engineered by the U.S. government to embody the naked aggression and primal survival skills that centuries of civilization have erased from humankind, Thirteens were intended to be the ultimate military fighting force. The project was scuttled, however, when a fearful public branded the supersoldiers dangerous mutants, dooming the Thirteens to forced exile on Earth's distant, desolate Mars colony. But Marsalis found a way to slip back.

A cool concept plagued by bias & poor execution.
Revisado: 04-06-19
The narration is good, and world is interesting right up until the bias of the author kicks in, I hope he made some coin selling this on the east and west coasts, if you're from flyover country or are somewhat religious and not ashamed of either the author unleashed both bigoted barrels at your forehead. Islam, totally cool and moderate, Christian, backwards rednecks as though everyone was a Westboro convert.
Such is life, it was his book to do so. But hey if you get beyond authors bias the concept is cool, execution drags on a lot, but it's a Gibson-ish cyberpunk thriller, violent, lots of sex, main character was likable anti-hero and the variant thirteen concept is cool.
