Historia
Leonardo DiCaprio. Alex Rodriguez. Tobey Maguire. Affleck. Damon. Cassavetes. What do these people have in common? Not just fame and fortune; all these men are also alumni of the ultra-exclusive, high-stakes poker ring that inspired Aaron Sorkin's Oscar-nominated film, Molly's Game. But Houston Curtis, the card shark who co-founded the game with Tobey Maguire, knows that Sorkin's is the whitewashed version. In Billion Dollar Hollywood Heist, Curtis goes all-in, revealing the true story behind the game.

Historia
The only possible thing that could make Morgan's world even more difficult happened. The Japanese fleet off the coast of California was wiped out. An even that Morgan and friends and family only knew about because of the radio broadcasts from the Radio Free Redoubt. So far removed from them it barely warranted notice. That is until the Chinese retaliated by launching a nuclear counter-strike against Mac Dill Air Force base. This, did warrant their attention and had the potential to profoundly impact their lives.

Boring and uneventful
Revisado: 06-30-19
The entire book was a bunch of hollow dialogue and rambling. There were a couple interesting survival ideas which I liked. There was very little action.
I like Duke Fontaine. He does a good job and I will look for more of his narration of other books.
I was very offended at A. American's portrayal of the National Guard. He seems to think they are some group of wannabes he calls military hobbyists who are subordinate to active duty Soldiers. The National Guard was doing back to back one year deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. They have more time in the sand than most active duty units. it is Anti American to dishonor them.

Historia
When society begins to unravel, there's no putting it back together. Jim and the others have made it to the lake house. They have some supplies, and they're still alive. But that doesn't mean they're safe. Rationing the food is necessary, and the meager portions are beginning to take their toll. Imagining hunger and fatigue is one thing, but living it is another. Can they survive like this long term? What happens now that the hoards are fleeing the cities, looking for shelter?

Poorly written and uneventful. Non-stop, rambling, dialogue with no advancement in the story. Weak storyline but so monotonous, it is hard to pick out what the story is at times...just a bunch of people talking to each other. Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah....

Great book
Revisado: 11-04-18
The story was a lot of fun as it was not all about gangs attacking a bunch of survivors. Franklin Horton seems to have expanded his character personalities and added quite a bit of additional description in the violence that takes place.
Great book. I highly recommend reading it.

I was impressed with the situations that the characters encountered throughout the story. Additionally, there were several survival tips woven into the plot which I always enjoy. I read the SHTF books a lot and recommend trying this book out. It stands out from the others. The sequel is the next book on my list. Enjoy!

From the recesses of a fractured government comes a plan to restore order and rescue what remains of the population. The first step comes with restoring power. But what if having access to electricity came at such a price that many - like Jim Powell, his friends, and his neighbors - would rather face a future in the dark.

Revisado: 07-20-18
Franklin Horton is probably my favorite author. His books are usually very well written and interesting.
I am a huge fan of the Borrowed World series and this book was enjoyable. The story is a little different but not out in left field. I like the new characters and the losses experienced by the group. I thought there was a lot of unnecessary detail at the beginning but it gets easier to read as the story goes on.
Based on the epilogue, it sounds like the next book is going to be good. I am already looking forward to it.

I liked the story for a while then it became monotonous. The religious undertones and quotes started to get heavy and I had to turn it off.
There are some good prepping and tactical tips which I enjoyed.

This book is terrible. Horrible follow up to the series. I will not buy the next book.
Narrator is not the same as in the earlier series. He is flat, robotic and only speaks a few words at a time. Drove me crazy.
