Historia
My third mission into the depths of the Underground City finds me battling its demonic residents in the Toy Store, level four of the hellish afterlife. Although my guardian angel, Bill, is by my side every step of the way, Bill isn’t much of a consolation when it comes to fighting things that go bump in the night. Instead, I’d much prefer to rely on the brawn and brains of the two thousand year old Celtic warrior, Tallis Black.

Enjoyable story. Iffy narration
Revisado: 03-14-25
If you’ve been enjoying the Lily Harper books, this one will not disappoint. The story continues the same fun and engaging as the previous books. The new reader is Alexandra Donohue. Overall, her reading is just fine, with one exception. She has the worst accents I’ve ever heard. Her Scottish accent is really awful. So much so that every time she reads for Tallis I get distracted and pulled out of the story. And her Eastern European accent isn’t any better. It’s a bad awkward mix of Russian, Swedish and German… but then not really any of them either. But when she reads with her native American accent her reading is very good. So she is a good audiobook reader. She’d be put to better use focusing only on books with American characters. Regardless, I enjoyed the book and will be continuing her series. I hope they continue to record more of this series books.

Excellent lecture series
Revisado: 10-22-23
This was an excellent lecture series. I learned a great deal. I had to stop and look up maps frequently and read more about some of the people, as the names and lineage can get confusing at times. I’ll probably listen to this several times before I’m done, so I can get a better handle on some parts that were confusing. But that was no fault of the lecturer.
The reader is a professor and not an actor, so don’t expect the reading to be like a regular audiobook.

Historia
As opulent and passionate as the 18th century it celebrates, Through a Glass Darkly will sweep you away to the splendors of a lost era. From aristocrats to scoundrels, its rich, vivid characters create their own immortality. Here is the story of a great family ruled by a dowager of extraordinary power; of a young woman seeking love in a world of English luxury and French intrigue; and of a man haunted by a secret that could turn all dreams to ashes.

Revisado: 12-23-22
Wonderful story. Wonderful performance. This book has been on my list to read for years. One of those books I never seemed to get around to. Decided to start it. Just loved it. Finished the whole book in two days. Now going to start the next in the series. Highly recommended.

Historia
Felicia, Lizbeth Rose’s younger half-sister and student at the Grigori school within the capital of the New Holy Russian Empire in San Diego, is caught between secrets and powerful family struggles. As a distant relative to the Tsar, she provides an essential service to him by providing blood transfusions for his hemophilia, and she is thus given rare access and dismissed as if cattle. At the Grigori school she is seen as a charity case, a poor orphan with no prospects and no sign of magical prowess—the latter which Felicia keeps purposefully hidden.

New Perspective, Great Story
Revisado: 11-18-22
Fourth book in the Gunnie Rose series. This time it’s told from Felicia’s perspective while she is at school. Lisbeth’s and Eli are only mentioned a few times and they appear during a quick phone conversation. So don’t expect a continuation of Lisbeth’s story. It’s has a different feel from the previous books told from Lisbeth’s point of view. But it is a great addition to the series. We really get a lot of much needed background into the mysterious half sister. You should read the first three books before starting this one. But a definite must read!

Not for me
Revisado: 04-21-22
I’ve read all of Anne Bishops Others series multiple time and love them. Can’t wait for each new books. So I bought this one hoping for another great series. I got a couple hours into in and finally gave up. It’s just not for it. I found it difficult to follow and kept wishing I could listen to something else. I just didn’t have the eager, can’t wait to plug in the book every day kind of feeling I get from books I really love, like her Others series. So, I gave up after a couple days. But many people really love these books, and you may too. It just wasn’t for me.

Engaging
Revisado: 03-11-19
The story is engaging. I’ve read all of Dan Brown’s books. This one does not disappoint. Richard Poe’s narration is good. He has a rich velvety voice that is great to listen to. His accents, however, are terrible. If you’re not the type who cares or can tell if an accent is accurate then this won’t bother you. Definitely recommend this book.

Historia
Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

Best narrator
Revisado: 06-23-18
Steven Weber is the best audiobook narrator I’ve ever come across. Superb performance! The missing parts of the books others were complaining about were in the version I just listened to, so I’m assuming the publishers fixed the issues.
