Historia
Possibly the darkest and most shocking six scary short stories yet ever created from bestselling author Stephen R. King. An instinct of passion and disrespect for decency and humanity fill this volume of life experiences we mostly keep in the back of our conscience, never wanting to bring to the forefront. Its truly sick!

A.I. voices are better than ever, but still don't cut it.
Revisado: 02-23-24
No doubt that computerized voices are better than ever, but it still didn't quite work. AI made a few pronunciation errors, glitched out once, and couldn't do multiple voices at all (character differentiation).

Historia
In The Wind Through the Keyhole, Stephen King has returned to the rich landscape of Mid-World. This story within a story within a story finds Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, in his early days during the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death. Sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a "skin-man", Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, a brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter.

The author doesn't have a great narrating voice...
Revisado: 11-12-22
Would prefer that Stephen King not narrate any more of his own books, especially a western-esque book such as this. It needed a gruff, booming voice like the narrator of the first 4 novels!

Historia
As a particle physicist, William Jenkins is as unsuited to survival on an alien world as any normal 30-something post-doc could be. Thankfully, he’s not alone. With an AI, magic, scientific curiosity, and, most improbably, a deity on his side, Will must come to terms with his new reality before otherworldly terrors forever extinguish the light of hope on this new world.

Ridiculous premise and progression too fast
Revisado: 03-05-22
The book is ridiculous, featuring a foul mouthed "physicist" with a conveniently omniscient and omnipotent AI sidekick who is embedded fully into his brain.
Character leveling up is too fast and too unlikely; at only level 2, just a few days after being reincarnated on a strange new world, he successfully kills a giant psionic megabeast and gains like 4 levels from it.
So many issues with the novel that I've decided to abandon it.

Historia
In modern-day Los Angeles, a shadowy faction led by the governor of California develops the arcane art of combat linguistics, planting the seeds of a future totalitarian empire. Isobel is the queen of the medieval rave-themed VR game Sparkle Dungeon. Her prowess in the game makes her an ideal candidate to learn the secrets of "power morphemes" - unnaturally dense units of meaning that warp perception when skillfully pronounced. But Isobel’s reputation makes her the target of a strange resistance movement led by spellcasting anarchists.

Ridiculous and far too woke for me
Revisado: 03-05-22
While I was lured in with the "linguist" part, It felt as if the story tried too hard to be unique, different, and woke. It (over)reached for too many novel ideas and just became outlandish. The constant attention to gayness and pronouns was distracting and overindulgent.

Revisado: 12-07-21
I Literally could not put this audiobook down. The new narration by Ms. Pike lifted Jordan's epic tale right off the pages and sent the story soaring into the heavens. I am dreading the long wait until The Great Hunt is recorded and released. I can't go back to the old narration after experiencing this version!

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Historia
Beelzebub, the prince of demons, is bored. It's his destiny to one day rule the dark underworld known as the Red Realm, but it's sooo boring down there. All he wants to do is lay around all day in the lava pits (ahhh), boss everyone around (rude!), and maybe play a cruel prank (or two). But Beelzebub's father has had it with his son's nasty attitude. No one backtalks the Red King. NO ONE. A disgraced Beelzebub is banished by his father and cursed to spend his days in the worst place either of them can imagine. EARTH.

Historia
Exploration of everything we believe and why. Cutting to the heart of our actions. Touching our nerves and soul until the scab is a scar and part of who we are; a birthmark onto the real us. But not too heady, not too vague to understand, rather right there where we all exist every day of our lives. Answering the questions we have in our quiet moments away from the chaos of living. The Universe is a book for all believers and unbelievers of anything and everything and nothing.

Superficially interesting content; good narration
Revisado: 01-31-20
Narrator was engaging. "Pseudointellectualism" came to mind while thinking critically about the meat of the story: apparently deep and meaningful, but only at the surface level.
107 minutes is an impossibly short span to fairly treat such a hefty topic, I thought.
All that given with a grain of salt; the author is published, while I am not!
