Historia
Is humility a Christlike attribute that should be pursued? And even if it should be, can genuine humility actually be attained? Often so practical in application that it is overlooked, the answer is found by studying the life and words of Christ (whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your slave). This little book is a loud call to all committed Christians to prove that meekness and lowliness of heart is the evidence by which those who follow the meek and lowly Lamb of God are to be known.

If every disciple of Christ read and lived like this, the world would be a different place. I just finished my first listening of this book... It definitely won't be my last.

Historia
America’s government was on the verge of collapse, and her geopolitical foes smelled blood. While the country was destroyed from within, China deals a final blow. It was time to bring the United States to its knees. Thrust into a world without power, complete lawlessness took over. There was no organized police force. The National Guardsmen had abandoned their posts to protect their own. Anarchy filled the void.

The story was still really good but it did drag on a little bit for me. One of the characters plot lines drug on a little too long IMO. But overall I still can't wait to read the next one.

With the threats brought to their doorstep, the neighbors behind the gates face a dilemma. Do they try to make peace with those who've threatened their very existence if they don't pay a King's ransom in food and supplies? Or, do they stand their ground and fight back in an effort to protect their property and themselves. Old, festering animosity within the neighborhood rises to the surface as two distinct factions are in complete disagreement as to the best course of action. Will the two groups be able to put their differences aside?

Historia
Behind a smokescreen of “preparing students for the new industrial economy,” early progressives had political control in mind. America’s original schools didn’t just make kids memorize facts or learn skills; they taught them to think freely and arrive at wisdom. They assigned the classics, inspired love of God and country, and raised future citizens that changed the world forever.

Wake up call... Must read
Revisado: 07-25-22
Extremely well done and researched. I've been in the public school system as a teacher, an EA and a college prep advisor for 30 years, my husband and I ran (along with other community members) a small country Christian school for 10 years, both my children and my husband are public school teachers BUT I highly recommend every parent and grandparent that loves their kids, put your preconceived notion of education aside and read this book! It is filled with information I wish I would have known earlier, but am blessed to know now. The book demands action and thoughtful reflection. Excellent, challenging.

Historia
When a political party helps organize and finance nationwide protests, anarchists and mob mentality takes over and violent riots start breaking out in many of our major cities. At the same time, part of the west coast is trying to recover from a series of devastating earthquakes, severe drought, and widespread wildfires. These events cause a record drop in our modern-day stock market, and due to a national debt of over $28 trillion, the value of the dollar is on the edge of collapsing causing massive layoffs to start taking place across the country.

Could have been better but...
Revisado: 03-01-20
Great narration. I enjoyed how he did the voices and I can often get annoyed by that aspect of narration. I would definitely listen to this guy.
The story was pretty good and could have been a4-5. The resason I rated it low was because it was just weird. It is written by people who I think are Christians and they try and bring God into it but they relentlessly focus on this 3 way weird relationship that one could only assume they've dealt with in their marriage. I wouldn't have thought anything about it if it was just part of the story but it gets brought up over and over and over. And it is already a weird and unrealistic relationship but to keep hashing it out??? I got so tired of hearing about it. It really wasn't an interesting relationship, however, they did do a good job with some of the other relationships and characters. But this one became way to hashed out. But then I'm sure they will just chalk my comments up to being "self-righteous".
Which leads me to my second concern... They spend way too much time when they do bring God into it, judging Christians for bring judgmental. The irony. Over and over, that is their focus... You go from an inspiring, we'll done, faith-based encouragement from the wife to her husband, then ends with her dropping an F bomb. Huh? They actually seem to invite judgements but set up their story to judge you if you're judging them. It was over the top. They've obviously been wounded by someone in the church.
They go on and on about how much the Bible talks about not judging people, without addressing the issue that we are indeed not supposed to judge non-believers, but we are certainly called to hold other believers accountable for their actions. As iron sharpens iron...
In any case, I'm sure they will chalk this up to just another self-righteous Christian thinking they should have standards for their story and this platform. Too bad. I liked a lot of the story. Because of that, I finished the first book and started the second. I think I got around 4-5 chapters in and I just couldn't bring my self to finish it, so I returned it. Their self-righteous, judgements and behaviors of their characters just became over the top. I had to wade through it in the first book to try and salvage the decent story... But it was an effort so I stopped in the second book. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this book series.

Unique, great storyline... But...
Revisado: 01-30-20
I do think this series is one of the most unique and well written collapse/apocalyptic type books I've read. It does get pretty dark in places, being a little more discriptive than I would care to read. I also was not impressed with how much foul language there was in the third book. I can deal with it, though I don't like it, if it is rare, but for me it was unnecessary in places and too much. That being said, it was really good, with wonderful characters, I didn't want to stop. Really great story.

If society collapsed, could you survive? When Morgan Carter's car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. But things are about to get much, much worse: the country's power grid has collapsed. Personal dislike for profanity, makes for a poor listen
Revisado: 12-27-19
I didn't finish it... Got to about the end of chapter 2 and stopped listening. It is a shame because as far as I could tell I think I would have enjoyed it. For me personally, when someone uses an abundance of profanity, it feels like they don't have the intelligence to choose other words. I'm sure that's not the case, but it was completely unnecessary and over the top for me. The narrator was very good. Sorry I wasted a credit.
