Sleeve and smut over the top. Swearing was redundant and boring. Not creative writing here.

I’m somewhat in shock finishing this book. One woman could endure so much, it’s just unbelievable, yet so well written and sincere, it’s totally believable. She’s the strongest woman. I’m in awe, and totally relieved it ends triumphantly.

I loved this book. The narrator, exceptional. The ending too abrupt. After going through so much with these people…don’t we deserve a nice buttoned up (some enjoyment) ending!

Historia
In this searing memoir of survival in the spirit of Stolen Innocence, the daughter of Warren Jeffs, the self-proclaimed Prophet of the FLDS Church, takes you deep inside the secretive polygamist Mormon fundamentalist cult run by her family and how she escaped it. Born into the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Rachel Jeffs was raised in a strict patriarchal culture defined by subordinate sister wives and men they must obey.

Heartbreaking and a triumph
Revisado: 09-02-21
I have so much respect for Rachel. I wish her all the best, she deserves all good things this world can offer. I loved this, and I’m proud of her for narrating it. Her voice is not a professional’s actor’s voice but it’s authentic and sincere and the story needed to be told. I hope society will continually be educated and made aware of this atrocious so called religion sect and the abusive tribe these people have formed, and more can escape. I Definitely recommend this book.

"I was one of 28 children born to my dad and his three wives. Indoctrinated to believe that the outside world was evil, and that I resided among the righteous, I was destined to marry a man chosen for me by the Prophet. I would then live in harmony with my sister-wives, bear many children, and obey and serve my future husband in this life and throughout eternity. But my innocence didn't last long." Flora goes on from there to tell the dramatic true story of how she ultimately escaped and has been rescuing women and children from the FLDS.

Amazing, horrendous abuse, and triumph.
Revisado: 09-01-21
This book has left me speechless. What a horrific cult and prison FLDS is. It’s hard to here the details of abuse, however, the people who have gone through this need us to be educated. Flora is a hero and has done a work that is invaluable trying to help her old community and anyone else who has suffered. Worth purchasing this, if only to support her but also for the education and awareness.

Horrific polygamy practices
Revisado: 08-09-21
An amazing and horrifying account. Everyone should be aware of what has and continues to happen in these criminal/abusive polygamist groups. They are taught to be horrible people and the worse you are the higher you climb in power. Texas CPS will forever be responsible for turning an opportunity to protect children, into aiding one of the greatest atrocities against children in history. Disgusting, along with all the other political, legal and law enforcement turning a blind eye and failing follow through.
Excellent book, just up the listening speed and it helps w/the annoyances of narrators style.

So very happy Carolyn wrote another book. Mostly new content and even more exposure of the terrible abuse and awful cult practices. It’s gratifying to know Carolyn found true love and getting the update on her family was so good. Well worth the read !

When she was 18 years old, Carolyn Jessop was coerced into an arranged marriage with a total stranger - a man 32 years her senior. Merril Jessop already had three wives. But arranged plural marriages were an integral part of Carolyn's heritage: She was born into and raised in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS), the radical offshoot of the Mormon Church.
