Historia
While most of Postl's adult life has been spent in the wild world of the wrestling industry, his is more than a story of a little person's journey through a world of giants; it's a memoir of elation and anguish, triumph and disappointment, and of how an endlessly positive outlook combined with the unwavering support of family and friends helped a long shot become a success in his industry and a loving, responsible father.

This is your warning. I had no idea it was going to be like that. And it's LONG. I needed to take breaks to calm down because it doesn't let off the pressure very often. Holy crap what a good book.

Peter Schweizer says that, in a quarter-century as an investigative journalist, this is the scariest investigation he has ever conducted. That the Chinese government seeks to infiltrate American institutions is hardly surprising. What is wholly new, however, are the number of American elites who are eager to help the Chinese dictatorship in its quest for global hegemony.

Trash

Don't bother. It's all cherry-picked examples trying to paint a biased picture. Performance was good though, can't fault the narrorator for the content.

Historia
The Winter Queen of Faerie has manipulated Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden into accepting a case to solve a murder and stop a war between the courts of Summer and Winter that could have literally earth shattering consequences. His own soul is up for grabs. Dresden must dig deep to discover that at time a willingness to accept a little help from your friends, be they a cub pack of werewolves, old loves in sheep's clothing, or a battalion of pizza loving dewdrop fairies, is a very good thing.

Great book, Ok performance
Revisado: 09-05-19
Honestly, I don't have much of a problem with the reader as much as I do the editing of the thing. There is at least one moment where a sentence is completely repeated, and there are more smaller errors. Sometimes his pronunciation is off too.
Great book though.

Historia
Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

Nerve-wracking and Terrifying!
Revisado: 10-23-17
Of the several King books (It, The Stand, Salem's Lot, and now this one) I've listened to here on Audible, the Shining was probably the one that caused me the most distress. King never let up on the tension until pretty much the epilogue. On one hand, that's was fantastic, but on the other, it almost made me dread hitting the play button! I had to stop and take breathers from it several times because it was getting me so anxious! And that, to me, was its biggest flaw. I love it when a story holds me so well that I don't want to put it down. This one held too tight, and I had to push myself away so I could breathe easy again.
The performance was very good, although not amazing. Campbell Scott's range just felt a bit lacking at times. To be honest though, I think I've been spoiled a bit because I just recently finished "It", where Steven Weber's performance was just so utterly fantastic, anything short of that just seems underwhelming. Nonetheless, I would not pass up on this story just based on the performance. 4/5 stars is still very good.
If you're looking for a story that will make your heart pound for hours, this is definitely the one I suggest. Unless you have a heart condition. then you might want to speak with your doctor first. :P

Historia
Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

So much better than the movie
Revisado: 10-05-17
Also about 20 times longer, but worth it if you have the time. I started it few months before I even heard there was a new movie coming, made it about halfway through before taking a break, and only picked it back up after I saw the movie. But once I picked it back up, I couldn't put it down! I took long drives just for an excuse to listen to it more! Definitely among King's best.
Really liked Weber's performance. He gave Stuttering Bill such emotion. Like you could feel how hard he had to struggle just to speak. That alone makes his performance amazing, but his range for all of the other characters, especially Richie's voices, made it spectacular.

Linguistics, the study of language, has a reputation for being complex and inaccessible. But here's a secret: There's a lot that's quirky and intriguing about how human language works-and much of it is downright fun to learn about. But with so many potential avenues of exploration, it can often seem daunting to try to understand it. Where does one even start?

Too Short!
Revisado: 01-25-17
It's fantastic, it's just so short! Informative, fun, but too short! I only picked this one up because I've listened to all of professor McWhorter's other lectures on here and I wanted more. It would probably serve to be a good introduction to Linguistics for someone who maybe isn't very sure if they are interested in it.

Historia
As a prisoner of war, Andrew Jackson walked several miles barefoot across state lines while suffering from smallpox and a serious head wound received when he refused to polish the boots of the soldiers who had taken him captive. He was thirteen years old. A few decades later, he became the first popularly elected president and served the nation, pausing briefly only to beat a would-be assassin with a cane to within an inch of his life.

best president fighting guide I've ever read
Revisado: 08-28-15
Both humorous and educational. The author has a brilliant writing style that comes across as conversational, which, given the subject, makes the book that much more enjoyable. filled with lots of interesting facts about the various men who have run this country. only downside I think is that it's almost too short (he stops at Reagan). Definitely worth the listen.
