The Kitchen Gods boxset is a fun read for people who love culinary lit. This collection of four novels features enemies-to-lovers, sports romance, hurt/comfort, boss/employee, age gap, rich/not as rich...something for everyone! Each book has its own flavor, and I felt the stories got better as the series progressed (especially that build-up to Bastien's story!). There's also hints of Beth Bolden's other series in these novels. Wyatt Baker did a great job narrating the audio.

This is a solid opposites-attract romance featuring a single dad needing a second chance and an EMT who has been shouldering burdens beyond his years. Dutch's daughter and Foster's sister help play matchmaker between the two, and remind them that they each deserve happiness of their own. The narration is well-done and engaging.

When a grumpy grinch of a professor and a sunshine single-dad decide to fake date for the holidays, what could go right? Everything. This was a highly enjoyable seasonal listen with real characters, real-life holiday party shenanigans, and just enough tension to keep it rolling along. The narration was spot-on and made the listen feel over too soon. Highly recommended!

If you were intrigued by Everard in Yours, Forever After, this story is sure to satisfy. The wise but sarcastic guardian we came to know is an ancient being, banished from his realm in an act of treachery. When a new evil manifests in the human realm, an old colleague resurfaces to aid Evander...but is he trustworthy? Interesting world-building and lush narration make this an enjoyable listen.

Boyfriend Freeze is a fun opposites-attract romance featuring sweater vests, a charming grandma, and an ill-timed dating hiatus. After a disastrous drunk-text to his ex, Ollie swears off dating and all it entails for 60 days. Naturally, he meets the guy of his dreams the next day. Graham has promised his family he'll be open to dating, but he's always preferred the company of books. When Ollie gets a job at the library, sparks (and well-placed poetry verses) fly. Boyfriend Freeze manages to be a slow-burn with the pacing of an exciting romp, and the audio narration is particularly enjoyable.

The Nature of the Game is a romance featuring a love-burned hockey star, an artist trying to escape family exploitation, a perfectly timed hurricane, and a second chance to make things right. Ash never knew why Dan left him at the airport when their relationship was ready to take off, and Dan never had the courage to get out from under his mother's malicious manipulations. Unexpected circumstances force them together again, and each has the chance to reminisce, showing the reader a side-by-side progression of their first relationship with the one currently in motion. The character development is rich and rewarding, and the HEA is hard-fought and well-deserved. Lots of colorful side characters (including cameos from other book couples) make for an entertaining read. The audio, narrated by Adam Lawrence, is spectacular. He does a great job not only with differentiating characters' voices but with pacing and emotion as well. It is a listen to be savored!

Costumes & Cadavers is a short-and-sweet mystery that is nonetheless entertaining. Charity throws a Homemade Halloween party for the loyal employees and guests at her craft supply store, but when one guest turns up dead, she's the main suspect. The story is well-paced, with good characters, and is perfect when you want a bite-sized mystery. The audio narration is excellent, with nice distinction between all the characters and well-done emotion.

Matched by My Rival is an intense and entertaining rivals-to-lovers romp. Parker *may* have had a little something to do with Simon losing his spot on the football team, not to mention his scholarship, and wants to try to make good by volunteering with Simon's fraternity charity event. Simon has no love lost for Parker, who never trained as hard as Simon but excelled at football nonetheless. When he discovers that the sweet, patient guy he's been texting in the dating app is actually Parker, he's both appalled and a little turned on. The characters in this book are nicely complex, and their relationship development is a fun ride for the listener. The audio narration is excellent, both in terms of differentiating the characters and matching the tone of specific passages. Great listen!

Keeping Casey is a sweet New Adult friends-to-lovers hockey romance. Friends since childhood, Casey and Ethan are bound by a shared tragedy as well, and while the boys handle things differently, they always have each other's back. But when Ethan takes a bad hit in a game and it causes his rheumatoid arthritis to flare, Casey must learn that letting go of control is part and parcel of being in love. The main characters are wonderful, as is the cast of colorful, supportive side characters. The relationship developement is very believeable, and touches on serious issues without being dour. Overall, Keeping Casey is an uplifting romance. The narration seemed rushed for the first few hours of the book, but improved tremendously as the book moved along. The author does a good job differentiating the voices of the characters.

It's not often a book makes me homesick for the state I once called home, but this one did. I loved the gentle Alaskan fisherman who works hard at a job he doesn't really want to help his family. And I loved the conflicted North Dakota boy-cum-Hollywood star who was so thankful to find someone who treated him as a normal person that he pretended to be someone he wasn't anymore. The writing is wonderful, the setting on-point, and the gay best friend is definitely a keeper. The narrator did a fantastic job differentiating the main characters and hit all the emotional notes.
