Great Story, Horrible Narration
Revisado: 01-27-25
I really enjoyed the story and hesitated prior to purchase due to the AI narration notice. I thought I'd give it a shot. Although the voice was pleasant it had no inflection, no change in tone, nothing to give the story any interest beyond the words written on the page. I should have just bought the book and read it myself with my own voices in my head and personality. This has prevented me from even considering purchasing any of the books in this series with AI generated voice, which unfortunately is all of them.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Wonderful Story of Life
Revisado: 10-31-20
I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the first chapter or why they would choose it to “start” the book. But I enjoyed the writing and continued to the next. By its end I felt something that I knew was going to be special. This made me laugh, think, reflect, cry and walk among the real characters developed in this novel. When I’m done writing this I’m going to spend the next few weeks re-listening and enjoying this beautifully heartfelt story. Thank you J.K. Simmons for providing the perfect sound stage. I’ve always loved your work and here you are out doing yourself in audio. God bless you.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Entertaining All the Way Through
Revisado: 06-14-19
It was a hoot to listen to this novel. The characters were engaging, the action was perfectly described, the interactions of characters were (was) the best. Enjoyed this book immensely and am looking forward to book two!
