If you want a list of “thoughts” and simple definitions with no substance or related processes, this is your book. If you picked this title you probably already know more than was in this text. Skip it

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Untuck this recording quality

Trying too hard to be “shocking”? And really poor audio...
Revisado: 05-15-21
No shocker there would be “foul” language based on the title, but the author’s choice of language just became dull as she tries to drop a curse word into every sentence. I spent years working in corn and wheat field and almost a decade doing grunt work in the Army... not going to shock me. But there is no way this is a ”natural language” text. It wasn’t offensive... it just felt like a six year old that learned some new and colorful words and just had to use them to show they have street cred. Interestingly, even though it sounds like she is recording this in her kitchen at home (the audio is REALLY terrible), the content was interesting. Too bad it seems to be lost in a quagmire of someone just trying to hard to ride the “sock and awe” wave. Hit the web and go to the author’s recommended reading list. She does recommend some very good texts, many of which are much easier to read or listen to.

Historia
From the hero whistleblower of the infamous Theranos scam, Thicker than Water is a look at never-before-revealed details behind closed doors at the company, revealing a cautionary tale of corporate bullying, gaslighting, ego, and wealth running amok in Silicon Valley. Tyler Shultz had been in the workforce for less than a year when he emailed Elizabeth Holmes, his employer and the CEO and founder of Theranos, with concerns that the company’s lab practices were faulty, ignored quality control, and were potentially dangerous to patients.

Like friends that whine for hours? This is for you.
Revisado: 03-27-21
This book wasn’t “written”... it is very much a one sided recorded and extended whine/rant session. This topic could have been so engaging, but the telling lacks any real luster, has little in the way of clever commentary or engaging language, centering on the theme “let me tell you how bad my life was during this time... and... did I tell you already how hard my life was?” I do not doubt this was a hellish run, but after a very short time I stopped caring because listening to it was like sitting in a coffee shop with a friend who is still complaining about the bad breakup of two years ago. I endured through to the last hour, and then had to bail. Poorly written, poorly performed... someone was a victim and they want to spend one long and unbroken conversation just telling you about being a victim.

Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Michael York should stick to the stage and leave narration to the pros.

Droll, ghastly and other British negatives
Revisado: 09-08-20
While the performer really tries to create an expressive environment, this story has all the glow of black paint spilled on an asphalt highway at night. The characters are flat, the repetition is obvious and predictable, the language as pompous as this review. After hours of listening and holding out hope for something more to inspire the characters or the story... well... I just gave up. Listening to a stock inventory review of a warehouse would be more entertaining.
