The story has a unique take on the regressor, second chance cliche. In this story, our MC is betrayed when a portal leading home arrives, and in Atlas's last moments after it collapses, he swears he would do things over if given a chance.

He wakes up in the past and has to decide whether he's crazy, if his memories were a dream, or if it was real. After drinking some scotch, he plans for the future. With a two-year countdown, he has little time to get resources, build a team, and prepare everyone for what awaits them.

The plot is nothing special, as many stories like this have happened. The departure from the theme is how Atlas goes about preparing for the portals. The setting is in the future, with new technology and a new combat sport on the rise. While central to the narrative, this sport is not the end focus but rather the stepping stone that propels our heroes forward, all in preparation that Atlas has already experienced in another life.

I found this story to be a great listen, and for those who hate stats, there is precious little, if any, in this book, but it may be more prevalent when the portals actually appear in the next book. The narration was also good, and I was surprised by how well the AI modulated the voices.

I recommend this to litrpg fans, those who enjoy second chances, post-apocalypse, and anyone who likes a good time in a well-crafted world.

Short and Sweet

This was a good story and well worth the listen, I wished the second audible volume was out. I wrote a summary below to give an alternate synapses of what happens. The narrator is a virtual AI. It does a good job but it messes up the nervous or embarrassed stuttering you would expect in this genre (Stuttering example: for "b-but", it would literaly say the letter "B" follwed by but). As the audio editing goes it has parts that are, disrupted, is the best way to put it. This occurred rarely and didn't detract from the telling. All and all I would reccomend this audible version.

Summary:
The beginning has our MC, Cid, confessing his love to his crush only to be shot down. When those present laugh at him he flees in embarrassment. As he ran across the street he encounters truck-kun and blacks out.

Cid ends up in a coma and has surgery that transforms him into to the hottest man in the world. traumatized by these events he now has made all woman his enemy and swears to return the favor by making them fall in love with him so he can reject them as he was rejected. A task made easier due to his rise to fame as an actor and model.

One day when going to class he bumps in to the girl that started it all and he jumps at the opportunity to get some pay back in the way he now knows best, by making her fall head over heels for him.

Still, he fell in love with her in the first place for a reason- can he succeed in his revenge or will he fall once again?

Worth it!

I've already made a review for this story when it came out on kindle so this review will be mainly about the audible version.

Great performance and voice portrayals of the characters. This book is a favorite of mine and had to check out the audible version which did not disappoint. The MC voice is believable as are the others. Only one that didn't match in my mind was our protagonists best friend back home but it wasn't bad nor did it annoy me. He also isn't in much of the story, mostly he is at the begining so if it does annoy you it won't for long.

The pacing was good and annunciation was clear. There was no static or white noise or that cone echoey effect on some other recorded stories i've heard in the past. This was professionally done so you won't have to worry about a shoddy or cheaply made purchase.

Absolutely loved the bloopers at the end and it had me laughing. Must say it's a first that I've listened to in an audio book and it was fantastic. I have always wondered why I haven't come across a story that had one before even though I get why recorded books don't don't do it, but it's still a nice touch.

Note: If you have children the blooper reel might have some adult language but I would personally rate it as PG13 if it were a movie. I would reccomend you forward it to the end and listen to see if it's fine for your children. Or if you hear bloopers and you want your baby boy/girl to remain sweet and innocent you might want turn it off there. Seriously, it's not that bad but had to bring it up just in case someone is not okay with it. I think it was around 4 minutes long... Did I mentioned it's super funny? No, well it was.

In case you buy it but don't want your children to listen to it you can take advantage of the audible feature described below:

See how many chapters there are. When your kids reach the last chapter open the sleep timer feature and select "end chapter" and it will automatically stop at the end of the chapter. You can also go to the same feature and select a standard time or make a custom one or play around and see what works for you.
