Historia
Nothing ever happens in Lincoln, Ohio. Sheriff Tim Burke likes it that way. That’s why he moved to the tranquil town after a panic disorder, triggered by a gruesome unsolved case, forced him to retire from Cleveland’s Homicide Division.

Historia
Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

Godly writing - story itself is ass
Revisado: 05-17-22
A wonderful voice reads this and im interested in checking out what else he has read! very emotive and full of character.
This is my first Stephen King book and i find his writing to be all it's cracked up to be. Seriously.
But jeez this story kindof sucks.
Cons: Token characters with no real purpose. Girl exists only to have sex. Black character dangerously close to existing only for being black. Bully characters were ludicrous and cliche. I've read creepypastas on the internet that did a better job at cosmic horror, compared to the end of the book. Felt weirdly over and underdone simultaneously. God sortof died and that had negligible story impact. Feels like the turtle is literally straight up just ripped from The Neverending Story.
It's meant to make the reader feel uncomfortable about the hate crime and bigotry it presents, but i think it did a mediocre job of accomplishing that. Monster retroactively stopped making any sense once things got cosmic and metaphorical, i honestly wish It didnt have a perspective in the narrative at all.
Pros: Exquisite writing. Made boring stuff like the made up history of a made up place interesting and relevent. the interludes had texture and werent bad exposition at all. Made me forget about all the cons above entirely (except the child orgy scene, really difficult to look that one over good writing or not. don't even get me started).
Engaging till the end, and you get many sides of the story which makes it pretty cinematic to listen to\read. In my opinion the most interesting and complex parts were the relationships between the kids and their parents, when they existed. Super glad the Token Girl didnt end up with the slightly Gary Stu protagonist at the end.
Great book, I hung on tightly till the end, even though i hate some of the useless story beats about Token Girl being Sexually Powerful and whatnot.

good story with great plot of magical family fun

I liked the performance and the story was engaging. a good listen for all family members and not too high fantasy for someone like me who isn't a big reader of high fantasy.

Historia
When editor Susan Ryeland is given the manuscript of Alan Conway's latest novel, she has no reason to think it will be much different from any of his others. After working with the best-selling crime writer for years, she's intimately familiar with his detective, Atticus Pünd, who solves mysteries disturbing sleepy English villages. An homage to queens of classic British crime such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers, Alan's traditional formula has proved hugely successful.
