Excellent performance and an excellent story
Revisado: 08-06-24
Almost done as a radio play, with sound effects, voices and cues. This is one of the best Old Republic novels for anyone who reads Star Wars EU, right up there with the OG Thrawn and the Darth Bane series. More an espionage thriller than a pure action movie, of course. It sets right up into The Phantom Menace.

Historia
For 2,500 years, the Celts have continued to fascinate those who have come into contact with them, yet their origins have remained a mystery and even today are the subject of heated debate among historians and archaeologists. Barry Cunliffe's classic study of the ancient Celtic world was first published in 1997. Since then, huge advances have taken place in our knowledge: new finds, new ways of using DNA records to understand Celtic origins, new ideas about the proto-urban nature of early chieftains' strongholds. All these developments are part of this fully updated edition.

Really enjoyed threading the narrative together through the ages, matches the latest research without the ‘60s era revisionism - for the most part. Recommend.

FR O’Malley is great at keeping it interesting and hitting main points of papal history. Don’t grab this if you want a history of the Church or Catholicism, purely about the Papacy.

Historia
In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

Clear view of issues within the West
Revisado: 11-10-23
Douglas Murray seems able to view certain issues and narrative threads in the US and the West very well. Here he picks apart 4 major issues and guides us through their history and up to present day very well, explaining how mass formation works.
Weird he released before Covid, you see many of the same trends from Covid.

Historia
Andrew Roberts' Napoleon is the first one-volume biography to take advantage of the recent publication of Napoleon's thirty-three thousand letters, which radically transform our understanding of his character and motivation. At last we see him as he was: protean multitasker, decisive, surprisingly willing to forgive his enemies and his errant wife Josephine.

Historia
In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric. After all, if we must discard the ideas of Kant, Hume, and Mill for their opinions on race, shouldn’t we discard Marx, whose work is peppered with racial slurs and anti-Semitism? Embers of racism remain to be stamped out in America, but what about the raging racist inferno in the Middle East and Asia?

How can you believe all this stuff? This is the number one question Catholics get asked - and, sometimes, we ask ourselves. Why We're Catholic assembles the clearest, friendliest, most helpful answers that Trent learned to give to people. Beginning with how we can know reality and ending with our hope of eternal life, it's the perfect way to help skeptics and seekers (or Catholics who want to firm up their faith) understand the evidence that bolsters our belief - and brings us joy.
