This is a book I will forget about as soon as I finish this review. The writing is meh and the concept is a dead horse that the author can't stop beating. Someone call PETA! Even worse is the virtual voice that mispronouces words or dips into robot mode. Just no.

Weird....couldn't finish.

The author uses the "Oh I'll tell him later" gimmick over and over. Guy trys to assault you sexually but is with you best friend; maybe you should tell him later. You think you're pregnant by a stranger; maybe you should tell him later. The weirdest part was he stumbled across his attempted rapest having sex with his best friend and pleasures himself to the show. I just can't with this book.

Just awful

I this is just badly written and researched. I can't believe it is so highly reviewed. Anyone who has watched one crime drama or true crime show will see the author put zero research into police procedures. I could only make it through the first hour and a half before I gave up on this title and I feel dumber for it. How do you take you suspect/love interest to multiple crime scenes and put him in danger? How do you let the actual murderer go twice because you want to have a conversation with the love interest that should be there in the first place. I am literally fuming that I waste life listening to this awful, crap fest.

A muffled mess.

I was looking forward to an mm paranormal romance story with POCs but this was an incoherent mess. It's like you were dropped into the middle of the story. There are is an overwhelming amount of unfleshed out characters introduced. There is an enemy that we have no idea why they are fighting. I was just a garbled mess that I couldn't finish. Maybe it gets better but I will never know.

Just bad!

Pros:
-The premise has potential.
- Great background noise.
Cons:
-The writing is just so bad. The author needs desperately to invest in a Thesaurus. You could turn the number of times she used "predatory" into a drinking game. There had to be some kind of nepotism or bribery to get this published.
-There was no indication as to how much time passed; was he captured a week ago, a month ago, or years ago?
-The characters have the same conversations over and over again. Who was the editor because they failed on so may levels. This could have been much shorter.
-If you are using virtual voice to read the book why not have different voices for every character? Female voices for female character, gravely voices for demons, etc.? It's not like you are paying actors. Turn it into a production.

I loved everything about this book. The characters, the world created for them, and the performance were all exceptional. It pulled me in from the first words to the abrupt ending. On to book two!

Just no

The first book of the series was ok and set up the character and story for this one. It was such a let down. It the first book Landon is written as sweet and likable. In this book he was a narcissistic, manipulative sex addict. He was completely unlikable and there is no way anyone would pine over him for a decade. He whines his way through life and everyone just bends to his will. The only good thing is he keeps getting hurt like loosing his leg and a head injury. Unfortunately, none of the accidents take and he lives on to continue bullying everyone around him.

Nice background noise

You can fade in and out of this series and not miss a thing, especially after the first book. The author follows the same formula over and over again, right down to the dog. I drive for a living and it was nice background noise that I didn't have to pay attention to and still follow the. very predictable plot. For me the only saving grace was the length of the bundle. It's like going to a mediocre buffet, the food is meh but you get a lot of it. The performance was good and would like to hear him with better material.

I was so excited when I stumbled across this set but having listened to 18 chapters of the first book I thought my eyes might stay locked rolled to the back of my head if I continued. The main character is just so stupid and unlikable I couldn't root for him. He acts like a spoiled 12 year old child. I constantly found myself mentally re-writing the story as I listened so that he died. At one point he puts his whole family in danger by destroying the protective wards on the house, for some strange. Then, while pregnant, he goes to protect his family, that he put in danger in the first place, without a care for the baby. The last straw was him constantly saying "my little brother". Who talks like that? When you're an adult it's just my brother or actual use his name, Luke. Thank the gods for the Audible return policy!

Sex scenes with minimal story

The first book in this series started out fairly entertaining with a good narrative sprinkled with sex scenes. As the series continues, it becomes sex scenes with a sprinkle of narrative. While it's not the worst thing I've read/listened to, it does make me sad for the story that could have been and is not what I signed up for. Narration was good, but when a lot of characters are in the same room, you could see the limits to the performer's range.
