Historia
Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that's one order she's more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.

I LOVE these GA versions
Revisado: 12-19-24
I am obsessed with this series and the graphic audio versions make it even better. The voices and acting is so great. Sound effects add to the story perfectly but are not distracting (as they can be in some other GA books I’ve listened too). They cut out unnecessary rehashing of the story and the constant inner monologue of the main character which happens in the book and that makes the story flow so much more smoothly. I just wish it could be all one audiobook instead of 2 parts. Or release the 2 parts at the same time. It’s hard to stop and wait. But wow what a spicy place to end it 😂😂

A little slow at first but then it’s amazing.
Revisado: 11-26-24
Voices and different accents were great. In the beginning the storyline was slow but the world building and plot was very heavy and too confusing to just listen to so I read it on kindle in order to understand everything. Once I had the mythology and all the characters down, it was very enjoyable to listen to. I have to admit, in the beginning, the story did not draw me in and I thought I might DNF it. But I had just gotten off a blood and ash/ flesh and fire obsession so that might be why. But about a quarter in I couldn’t stop listening/reading and the way the twists and turns all come together in the end was amazing. Some people don’t like the authors very descriptive poetic wordy writing but I enjoyed it. She didn’t keep repeating things over and over and I felt everything flowed very well. There are a few very spicy scenes (which I like) but it takes a damn long time to get to them. lol. Like slowest burn ever. The romance/smut is great but does not overshadow the plot or take away from the fantasy, story, or other characters. Really loved this book and can’t wait to see where this story goes. The next book not coming out until fall of 2025 and that’s a long wait unfortunately.

Great story but narrators voice was annoying.
Revisado: 11-18-24
This was a great story. Some aspects seemed copied from authors other books, but storyline and romance and spice were still great. Loved the characters and can’t wait to see how the story and characters develop in future books. For some reason, the narrator‘s voice annoyed me. It was like two robotic at some points and then too dramatic at others and maybe it was her accent or the way she pronounced words I don’t know, but it bothered me. I ended up not listening to it and reading it on Kindle instead. it’s a very easy read on Kindle. The chapters just flow from one to the next so easily and you get immersed in the story. I read it in three days and couldn’t really put it down. It’s definitely more smutty romance than it is fantasy so if you’re not into that, you won’t like this book. But since I’m here for the spice, I enjoyed it.

Historia
Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers. The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing.

Made the book even better!
Revisado: 10-02-24
So I'm obsessed with this series and the prequel series and could honestly read it and listen to it a million times. But this graphic audio version is soooo good!! And could the voice for Hawke be any hotter or more perfect? Like omg. Highly recommend getting back into this world with the dramatized version. Can't wait for the rest of the series to come out on GA and hopefully the shadow in the ember series too!

Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College – Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is – unless she betrays the man she loves.

Part 2 even better than Part 1
Revisado: 08-07-24
I love these dramatized versions. Really streamlined the story and cut out all the unnecessary repetitive stuff. Xadens voice either got much better or I just got used to it I don't know but by the end I LOVED IT. At first it was just Lucien from acotar for me and too sassy sarcastic and not rough and manly enough for what I thought xaden should sound like but in this second part it becomes perfect. Also the storyline in the second half of the book flows better and is much more exciting and this version really brings it to life.

Great voices and acting
Revisado: 08-01-24
Loved this dramatized version! Hawke/Casteels voice and acting was PERFECT! Sound effects and music added to the story and were not distracting. This version moved along the plot nicely and cut out much of poppy's constant inner monologue that's annoying in the written books. The only thing that bothered me was the mispronunciation of names and cities. Looking forward to reliving this story with future GA versions of the series.

Great story, male reader is great
Revisado: 05-11-24
I loved this book. It's a great urban fantasy about angels among us and very addictive. The spice and angst is just right. Story and character development so good. I wish it got more hype like the acotar and fbaa and fourth wing books. I read the second one and it's also amazing. Going to start reading the 3rd. Can't wait to find out how this ends. So many great characters. They only made an audible for the first one which is disappointing. No audible for second and third only Kindle written additions. The performance was good. The female voice was too robotic. Not enough feeling. I love Anthony Palmini...he will always be Rhysand for me from the graphic audio version of Acotar and he's the reason I listened/read this book initially when I found out he was one of the readers. He dos an AMAZING job. But he really needs to stop saying "liberry" for library and "breaf" for breath 😂😂 Other than that I love all his different voices and how he acts everything out.

Story Good but not as good as fourth wing, narration better
Revisado: 12-02-23
The narrator is sooo much better than she was in fourth wing. First of all she's not nasal and congested the whole time and she does a much better job with portraying the different voices. The male narrator got rid of his surfer dude accent from the first book which did not fit this story at all, so that's good. The first time I read/listened to this book I was disappointed because I loved the flow and excitement of fourth wing and I felt that this book just has too much information in it.....like the world building and plot twists and reveals were all over the place and I couldn't make sense of it all. I think I read it too quickly just to know what was going to happen and how it would end. So I missed a lot. The second time I read it after knowing the reveals and plot twists it all made more sense and I was thoroughly invested in it again. I still don't really understand the connection between the runes and the daggers and the wards though. The fighting between xaden and violet over the same thing again and again and again in the beginning of the book was very drawn out and became annoying. I guess it was to build up angst to get that same kind of excitement for the love scenes as there was in fourth wing but it didn't really work. This book is more about their love than lust and the development of a real relationship which I think is how it should be. But I kind of miss the new romance excitement of the first book. The ending killed me almost as much as when HBO ruined the last season of Game of Thrones. Like I was actually depressed. But since there's going to be 3 more books, I have faith the RY will give us the happy ending that we deserve.

Totally hooked on the story
Revisado: 12-02-23
Great story except poppie needs to get stronger and smarten up. I realized things way before her lol. The narrator was very good and did a great job with the different voices especially Hawke. But a weird thing was she kept changing words and skipping lines and calling people by the wrong name (sometimes I read along with kindle) which is weird and in some cases changed the meaning/story. Still the book really captivated me and I couldn't put it down.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Great story, terrible narration
Revisado: 09-12-23
I really loved the story but I am into fantasy and romance so it was perfect for me. The sex scenes were a bit more detailed then I'm used to but not gonna lie, they were great. Definitely an 18+book because of that. I thought the world building and dragons was great, easy to understand, not too many unnecessary details like in other fantasy books. The story is a weird combination of innocent Harry Potter and violent sexy Game of Thrones, but it worked for me. Some of the plot was predictable but I had no idea about the twist at the very end. I know other reviews are saying they saw that coming from the first chapter, but I was shocked. The narration on the other hand was terrible. The whole first half the narrator is clearly sick and nasal and congested, and her voice is so annoying and even after she gets better, there are parts where it gets louder or softer, as if it wasn't done in order or lines were added or some thing. She's also not good at doing different voices for different characters and I've listened to many audiobooks where the narration is so good you forget it's just one person reading it. I really hope they got somebody else for book 2. I actually stopped listening to it and read it on kindle where I appreciated the story so much more and literally couldn't put it down.
