At a Texas county fair, children’s book author Elle Portman is enjoying a rare night out with her favorite cowboy: her two-year-old son, Charlie. Also caught in the melee is corporate consultant Calder Hudson. When he wakes up in the hospital, he's told he's lucky. Well Written Important Story
Revisado: 04-24-25
Well told story about key tragic events of today involving mass gun shooting. As always, Sandra Brown brings characters to life. I only wish the relationship between the main characters was more developed. It appeared to be a rush to intimacy.

Okay Story / Bad Narration
Revisado: 04-20-25
The storyline was interesting; but I felt it could have been further developed. It was written as if someone you knew was just “relaying” a story they heard and “re-describing” the characters, sometimes with a litany of descriptors, e.g., “her high cheek bones, green eyes, full potty lips, perfectly symmetrical features, all set against her olive skin, along with her mane of thick dark hair…”
Geez, there’s something about characterizing a female this way that seems a little unoriginal.
The virtual narrator mispronounced several words which distracted from my following and enjoying the story, e.g., taco is pronounced “tay-ko.” Jamel is pronounced two different ways: “Jay-Mel” and “Jah-Mel.”

Interesting storyline, but I’m not a fan of the narration. There were inappropriate inflections on words, and some words were mispronounced. For instance, résumés was pronounced resumes.

The Story’s Voice
Revisado: 03-15-25
The book had more than one storyline, well written but a couple were not enjoyable due to cruelty. Oftentimes for me, It was difficult to distinguish the characters speaking because their voices sounded the same. And, I couldn’t distinguish by their tone or inflections.
