This Author's stories are addictive. Whenever a series first book is free, I tell myself not to give in to listening to the free book because I'll end up buying the whole series. I loved this book! I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say it was a great first book, I'm hooked ..again.

it's all the things

you won't be bored! The characters have actual development. often writers tell us everything and then we can predict the actions a character will take. This series allows the reader to discover the character in the moment of changes, of development. It's a refreshing balance without exhaustive, cringe worthy inner monologues.

The end blew my mind! It's rare for me to be that surprised. the entire book has me frustrated to find out what was happening next, and then the end came. I rarely review but this entire series has me pressing the BUY NOW button

These characters are strong enough that the visiting characters from the original series so not steal the show. refreshing! I love the connections without it being the same story with a new protagonist name.

Darkness that Dazzles

I love the flow in the book. I was pleasantly surprised that the character hasn't over promised and under delivered. Still waiting to see her power in all it's dazzling darkness.

My only pet peeve..

First two books had Jack owning a fixer upoer, and talking about deals he could get by networking with new people entering his life. Then it was suddenly a rental with a month to month lease and he was bringing furniture to use in the basement renovation. Of course when his Mother visited in the past book there was a patch work couch and a bed and nothing else. In the beginning of this book Jack suddenly hadn't moved his fishing gear (even though Ivy had packed all Jack's stuff up, except furniture in the previous book and made Max help her move it into her cottage on a whim), and had 2 months left on his year long lease. I'm a huge fan, but while I get the author obviously didn't want to have two houses on the go, some of us get annoyed when details go by the wayside. They could have had Jack brought back to his house when he was kidnapped by his old partner and in the chaos the house got burned down. Instead we went from inferred ownership, to month to month lease to an annual lease about to expire... Messy

Halloween grab bag

I came to this series with book 21 out on the market, and am really enjoying catching up. Book 6 down, so many more adventures to go! I loved the tidbits added to all the characters in this book. A little bit of everything, like a Halloween grab bag of candy, it had a bit of sweet and sour going on.

I didn't expect Dax

In Harley's story Dax was, broody and mysterious. I was a little shocked he was so nice ! He is so normal in the story everyone else's crazy was even more amusing, or concerning depending on whom you are thinking of.
