Frustrating

Although some of her characters go too far with the pacifist, non-violence, love thy neighbor stance for the FMC, I typically like Helen Harper’s books; however, this one was just infuriating. The FMC was so self-important, narcissistic, naive, and just plain stupid that I was truly hoping she would die and Monroe would be the main character for the next two books in the series. Since she made it out alive, I will not be listening to the next two books in the series. I couldn’t wait for this book to end.

Excellent Series - Great plot, unique world building, terrific characters, and the perfect amount of steamy scenes!

I love this spin off from The Witch’s Rebels, following Haley’s journey into her life in a new world, discovering love and lust with three irresistible and insatiable monsters, reigniting an old flame, and discovering her true power. I just finished the last book in The Witch’s Monsters and think it was even better than the original Rebels series. It was steamy and sexy with an outstanding story, and amazing narrators.

And Jax, that voice, holy hell… I’d love him to read me a bedtime story every night of the week, though I’m not sure we’d be getting much sleep after being enthralled by his insanely sexy cadence; the narrator who gave voice to his character was absolutely beyond reproach.

My only complaint would be that the books were a bit short and could have been combined into two or maybe three total books. Luckily, two of them were on sale, but I had to spend two full credits on the others. However, I immediately bought the first after finishing The Witch’s Rebels because I was so drawn into the unique universe the author created. And after the first book of this series, I was completely hooked and binged all four in three days!

I highly recommend this series if you want to be drawn into another world with a unique plot, a strong female MC, witty dialogue, steamy & downright dirty lust, and a little romance.

Engaging & Unique

The story was interesting and kept my attention. I appreciated the author’s creativity and writing, and the twists he imparted into his work. Parts of the story were extremely creepy, but I would not describe it as scary. There were some elements of The Picture of Dorian Gray along with some aspects reminiscent of The Ring, but the book was unique in its own right.

While the virtual voice narration is not ideal and lacked inflection and nuance, it was not as grating as some other books I have listened to. I would rate the narration a 2, but as there are only two reviews, I did not want to bring down the average rating and potentially discourage others from an enjoyable story. If an actual person narrated this book, I believe its popularity would quickly gain traction.

Enjoyable listen

I listened as part of the audible plus catalog and was happy I took a chance on it even though there were no reviews. Typical but enjoyable zompoc with a good cast of characters and great narration. If you’re looking for an easy listen and light entertainment, give it a go!

Original story; disliked narrator

I really enjoyed the story, most of the characters and the originality, but I found the narrator grating and, quite frankly, pretty terrible. Her accents were odd, at best, and it really took away from my enjoyment of the audiobook. The main character was a Bostonian (oftentimes overwhelmingly whiny and woe-is-me) portrayed with an extremely bizarre sort of Texan/Californian/English as a second language accent.

I agree that this should be made into a movie. I thought it was fantastic, although it wrapped up a bit too quickly at the end. Scary, interesting and unique.

Fantastic narration. Cute and unique approach to a romantic comedy. I listened to it on a long car ride and even slowed down so I could finish it in one sitting. Not my typical preferred genre, but this is one of my favorite audible listens of all time.

Cute and funny, though sometimes Ash’s obsessive thoughts and constant whining grates on my nerves. Narrator does a good job with the exception of accents. I think the books are getting progressively better!

It’s hard to have a narrator change after several books. While Mr. Waters was a good narrator, I don’t feel he had the same snark and depth of emotion portrayed in the previous books and it really affected the flow of the story. Also, the story was a bit hard to follow as it jumped around quite a bit and nothing much was accomplished. Though enjoyable, it kind of seemed like a placeholder book; however, I still look forward to the next in the series.

Engaging, well-written story and top notch narration. It was an interesting format which I felt was perfect for an audiobook.
