Fun little story.

It took a while to get used to the AI narration. At first the unnatural pauses were very annoying, but once the the story captured my attention, the narration was not that noticeable.

I am assuming that this is one of Mr. Dahners earlier works as it did not seem as polished as his latter books. I am glad that it was published on Audible, and will probably listen to it several times over the years. I just wish that it had a better narrator and a few sequels.

I wanted to like it

This is one of my favorite plot lines and created by authors that I have liked their previous works, so I really wanted to like it.

Unfortunately, the story never came together for me. it seemed to be a well written formula rather than a story with a unifying plot. Maybe I fell asleep and missed things, but why were the only people concerned about the missing Druid a group of high-school freesfmen? What was the Dark Druid's motive? oh and then the Elders showed up? The same can be said about the other central events in the story, they could have been captivating if they weren't just the outline of the events.

Cliff Hanger and a little dark

The book just ends, I really hate books that just end. I was disappointed in the book, I found the story more depressing than uplifting. That could just be my take. I really wanted to listen to a swear word free book, and the description made me think that this would be a humorous book. Unfortunately there was very little humor in the book. With all that said, the story was intriguing and new, so I kept listening wanting to find out what happened to the main character and then it just stops.

The story did not resonate with me

I am not sure why, but I did not engage with these books as I did with the original series. It may have been that the multiple simultaneous storylines and jumping from one to the other was just too much to keep track off when just listening to the book.

The book did not work for me

I enjoyed the Rosie O'Grady's Bar series a lot and thought that I would enjoy this series also, but the sexual deviancy of the plot and a little too graphic descriptions kept me from enjoying the book. The alternate history did not help the story. Others may enjoy the book, since it has an interesting heroine and involved plot, but it should have an adults only rating.

Not his best work

The story is very intriguing and it looks to be developing, so I am going to give the next book a try. My biggest complaint is that while sneaking around in life threatening situations the characters are consistently snipping at each other. Sorry but even young, dumb and stupid doesn't make these scenes work.

Slight anti-christian theme ruined the story

The writer's and narrator's styles were excellent. However, the old gods verses the corrupt priest theme ruined the story for me. It that won't bother you, then it is a great book.
