Terrible narration
Revisado: 04-06-25
I’m on chapter 7, and I just can’t listen to it any longer! The narration is so bad! It’s so flat and there’s no inflection.

Historia
As a young man, Randall Woodfield had it all; he was a star athlete with good looks and an award-winning student. Working in the swinging West Coast bar scene, he had more than his share of women. But he wanted more than just sex. An appetite for unspeakable violent acts led him to cruise the I-5 highway through California to Washington, leaving a trail of victims along the way. As the list of the dead grew, the police mobilized to stop a twisted killer who had 44 known deaths to his name.

Historia
Ever since I met my handsome husband Dr Gabe Bonneville, I started playing the role of the perfect housewife. He works hard as a surgeon, so I look after our home, and throw elaborate dinner parties with champagne cocktails for his best friends Hugh and Anita. He’s my safe place and my chance to have the family I’ve always wanted. I’ve managed to hide the mornings when I wake up and see a face in the shadows. I haven’t told Gabe the truth about the woman who raised me, or told him about the therapy I’ve been getting so my secrets stay hidden in the dark.

Historia
Written at the request of Charles Dickens, North and South is a book about rebellion that poses fundamental questions about the nature of social authority and obedience. Gaskell expertly blends individual feeling with social concern and her heroine, Margaret Hale, is one of the most original creations of Victorian literature. When Margaret Hale's father leaves the Church in a crisis of conscience she is forced to leave her comfortable home in the tranquil countryside of Hampshire....

I loved the voice of the narrator
Revisado: 08-15-24
I’ve never read a book written in 1854. I wanted to get an idea how life actually was, from a woman’s point of view, so I seeked out a female author. I really like the way the book was written. I enjoyed listening to it so much that it kept me up multiple nights. The narrator did a fantastic job with every character. I wanted more from the ending. What happened at the end (and I mean the last two minutes) I wanted it to happen sooner, and as the book got closer and closer to the end I wasn’t sure if it was going to happen at all. And when it finally did happen, it was so short that I felt cheated. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I won’t say what happened. I just noticed that I was listening to this book on 0.9 speed instead of 1.0 speed. So I wanted to come back and indicate that on my review. I decided to listen to the end on 1.0 speed and I prefer it on 0.9 speed.

I caught him in a big lie in chapter 26
Revisado: 04-30-24
In chapter 26 he was talking about a gift that Sheila gave him on Christmas Eve around his birthday. I stopped listening to it immediately because I knew right then it was a lie because his birthday isn’t around Christmas Eve. His birthday is on July 1. That is a fact! So I knew right then when he started talking about this gift that Sheila gave him on Christmas Eve around his birthday that his story was a total lie! And then I thought this is all made up!

Historia
Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards and learning to accept love.

I wish I would’ve read the synopsis of this book before I selected it. It’s about fat girls/women. The characters in the book are fat, and the story is told through a fat person’s eyes. I just wasn’t interested.
