Historia
On October 25, 1944, the Samuel B. Roberts and 12 other vessels stood between Japan’s largest battleship force ever and MacArthur’s transports inside Leyte Gulf. Facing more than 20 Japanese vessels - including the 70,000-ton Yamato - the 1,200-ton Samuel B. Roberts turned immediately to action, churning straight at the enemy in a near-suicidal attempt to deflect the more potent foe and buy time for MacArthur’s forces.

Historia
A Malaysian cargo ship on its way from Seattle, Washington, to China ran aground off the coast of western Alaska's Aleutian Islands on December 8, 2004, during a brutal storm, leading to one of the most incredible Coast Guard rescue missions of all time. Two Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopters lifted off immediately from Air Station Kodiak during the driving storm, in an effort to rescue the ship's 18 crew members before it broke apart and sank in the freezing waters.

I enjoyed this story. It was well told and the narration was excellent. I’ll have to add more Coast Guard novels

Historia
With The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors and Ship of Ghosts, James D. Hornfischer created essential and enduring narratives about America’s World War II Navy, works of unique immediacy distinguished by rich portraits of ordinary men in extremis and exclusive new information. Now he does the same for the deadliest, most pivotal naval campaign of the Pacific war: Guadalcanal. Neptune’s Inferno is at once the most epic and the most intimate account ever written of the contest for control of the seaways of the Solomon Islands.

Wonderful Story
Revisado: 08-03-24
I thoroughly enjoy James D. Hornfischer's books. He is the standard I compare other books to for this subject. I'm pretty sure I have all his unabridged audiobooks, and I enjoy them all.
For the narrator. It completely slipped by when I bought this audiobook that the narrator was Robertson Dean. Holy cow! I absolutely loved his narration! I must say though the first book I listened to that he narrator was Neuromancer. So it was very shocking to hear characters from that book in this one. His narration was so good, so absolutely fitting. The difference between his characters and his storytelling voice were exceptional. The book was great, and love the material. The narration added a whole other level of story. Absolutely fitting.
Thank you.

Historia
Absalom Scryne, the greatest wizard of his generation, has been murdered. There's no other explanation for why his consciousness now resides in his well-worn but perfectly pointed hat. Well, he isn't going to take that lying down . . . or hanging from a branch, as the case may be.

Story ruined for tropes sake.
Revisado: 12-20-23
This started as an awesome story!
Little kobold finds a magic hat. This plot point sold me on the audiobook. That Luke Chmilenko wrote it was awesome too because his Savage Dominion series was a great series.
The narrator is really good for this book, and the hat works well for his voice acting. Loved it!
But unfortunately Luke's sold out to modern inclusive tropes just to be inclusive. There's good ways to do this, this book over did it.
I accept your male sounding elf that's they/them, no problem. Your reason for it made sense and it didn't affect the story.
Amazonian from a land of women. Cool. Was hoping to find out more about her.
The warrior dude. His reason for adventuring was an awesome hook and really was a great plot point.
The kobold, man I loved that little guy. Watching the world grow and develop through his minds eye and the hat was seriously creative and unique. Him learning magic and the weird way magic worked from him was a lot of fun too.
New Orc city, Sour Don, civilized monsters all very good.
And then we get to the graveyard. Why write it that way? A gay necromancer named Bones that likes undead, bones, and the obvious entendre's that go along with such a character? Naa.. I'm done.

Historia
In the blink of an eye, a wiki editor’s deep and somewhat unhealthy understanding of a game becomes useful, usable knowledge when he inexplicably replaces the once-cruel royal bastard. Before he can start to push his frail body to use his deep understanding of the lore to handle the imminent apocalypse, or go off to stop an invasion, there’s a more personal task he needs to handle first. His cousin has a knife in her hand, and death in her eyes.

This is going to be interesting
Revisado: 12-01-23
I don’t know. I just like it. I really like Luke Daniels, and I feel like he’s a good voice actor. I’ve heard him voice many many and I feel he’s become comfortable with GameLit/LitRPG. His characters are different from one another.
The story and world building, and the game. The story does feel fleshed out and fairly believable. I do feel like some of the characters are to closely name, so that I loose track of the character speaking. But the author has put good context queues around the character that I can infer the characters just fine.
The game is fun. It feels like a single player sandbox. The talent of the main character coming into the game is a nice hook and it’ll be interesting to see how that gets balanced out.
Over all I like it. It’ll be nice to enjoy this while my other favorite GameLit authors release their books.

After the Wolfman nation is shattered, Jaxon has enough spare time to advance his skills and specialize into a better class. Since Joe and his other teammates are either incapacitated or on a mission Jaxon does not believe in, the misunderstood chiropractor-turned-gamer strikes out on his own. The issue with creating your own path is that you have no idea what awaits you, especially when low charisma guarantees legendary misunderstandings. For Jaxon, that’s half the fun.

Revisado: 10-15-23
I’ve had this audiobook for a while and have now listened to it twice. Early on Jaxon wasn’t a favorite character, but like his teammates he’s grown on me. I’m looking forward to hearing more about Jaxon’s role in the overarching story, as well as seeing Jess come into Jottenhiem. Seems Joe could really use her class and experience.

Joe takes his first step into exile, and is promptly unable to breathe. This new Zone has a higher concentration of power, magnitudes denser. His first task is to survive, but mere survival is the least of his concerns. The Zone he has landed on has been in a state of constant war for thousands of years, a tug of war between the Elven and Dwarven societies. Not choosing a side is the same as declaring both to be your personal enemy. Though he is resistant, Joe reluctantly decides to go with the group he thinks will help him grow the most.

Such a great series
Revisado: 09-22-23
This is a series that I keep downloaded. Whenever my current selection of audiobooks runs out, I’m always back to listening to this series. I throughly enjoy this series. After having listened to it for 3-4 times I will say there are points that I skip, or if I zone out I know the story well enough I don’t rewind. But wow, such a great series.

I repeatedly re-listen to this series. It’s really good. It’s has enough gameLit in to make it gamey, but the story telling is really carrying the book well.

I originally read this series a year or more ago and I enjoyed them then. It was great to be able to buy the audiobook version and reacquaint myself with the story. It’s a great story, and for me it is well thought out and enjoyable. Thank you Robert and Janace for bringing this final audiobook to light.

I enjoy this series
Revisado: 04-18-23
I like this series because it scratches that history spanning sci-fi itch I have. It did take a little bit to get used to the narrator, and having already read the books it took a little while further to assimilate where this book falls. I enjoy Robert’s story telling and I look forward to the next book coming to audiobook form.
Thank you for a great story!
