Historia
A beautiful, ambitious angel stands on a mountaintop, surveying the world and its little inhabitants below. He smiles because soon, the last of humanity who survived the great flood will meet its end, too. And he should know. He's going to play a big part in it. Our angel usually doesn't get to do fieldwork, and if he does well, he's certain he'll get a big promotion.

A Fun Story
Revisado: 09-01-24
Ok, this story made me laugh out loud at the ridiculousness of some of the characters. Not to give anything away, but just goes to show some people will believe anything. The story line got a bit convoluted in the end but still a very fun book to listen to. I recommend it for a driving trip when you need to be entertained and the distance is long. It's well worth listening to.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

We'll Done!
Revisado: 11-10-23
I like short stories and this is a good one. It has an interesting premise, well thought out scene settings and interesting portrayals. Zachary Quinto does a excellent job as the narrator. The story leaves you wanting more but not feeling like you got short changed. To me, that's the sign of a good story.

Historia
Adam Binder has lost what matters most to him. Having finally learned the true identity of the warlock preying on his family, what was supposed to be a final confrontation with the fiend instead became a trap that sent Adam’s beloved Vicente into the realm of the dead, where none living are meant to be. Bound by debt, oath, and love, Adam blazes his own trail into the underworld to get Vicente back, and to end the threat of the warlock once and for all. But the road to hell is paved with far more than good intentions.

I liked this third installment in the series. I wrapped things up nicely, but I really hope there will be more story lines to come.

A Heck of A Lot of Fun...
Revisado: 11-04-23
I didn't know what to expect when I purchased this book. I think it was the "cat" element that sucked me in. The story line is pure fantasy but it is so much fun. If you suspend your reality and go with it, you'll have great time.

Historia
Published in time for the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall uprising on June 28, 1969, Indecent Advances investigates how queer men navigated a society that criminalized them and displayed little compassion for the violence they endured. Polchin shows, with masterful insight, how this discrimination was ultimately transformed by activists to help shape the burgeoning gay rights movement in the years leading up to Stonewall.

I Had No Idea
Revisado: 09-08-23
This book documents the horrific assaults and murders of gay and bisexual men from the 1920's to present day. I knew that gay men were targeted for assault, theft and murder, but I had no idea to the extent that this happened. The victims were often seen as the guilty party, not the murderers. I was shocked but not surprised by the lack of empathy and common decency among the politicians, the police and the media of the time. I think this book illustrates that society hasn't progressed all that much. There are still people in this country that have no qualms about killing gay men or lesbians just because of who they are. Even worse is the treatment of Trans people and the violence they endure on a daily basis, even now.
The book is well researched and documented. The narration is top notch. I don't wish to sound alarmist, because progress has been made. However, this book should be a wake up call to Gay People everywhere. Don't take the gains of the last 40 years for granted.

Historia
Born under different stars—Mungo a Protestant and James a Catholic—they should be sworn enemies if they’re to be seen as men at all. Their environment is a hyper-masculine and sectarian one, for gangs of young men and the violence they might dole out dominate the Glaswegian estate where they live. And yet against all odds Mungo and James become best friends as they find a sanctuary in the pigeon dovecote that James has built for his prize racing birds.

Heartbreaking
Revisado: 08-02-23
I loved this book, but I almost couldn't finish it. It was so heartbreaking. The sweet natured boy just wanted to be loved by somebody. He wanted the affection that any human being would want. Tragically, his family would never provide it.
I did not have any problem understanding the narrator. I think he did a great job. His accent added to the story and made it more believable for me.
The Mungo's story is not a happy one, as a matter of fact at times it is horrific. However, life isn't always about being happy. Sometimes life is about surviving till you can make it happy. And in the end, maybe there is a glimmer of hope for the boy to be truly happy. For Mungo's sake I hope so.

A Sweet Gay Romance...
Revisado: 05-17-23
Ok, first off- this is not high art. If you're expecting that, move on. It is a story about a midwestern gay boy in NYC. He's got a soul-sucking job. -" I would've liked that thread fleshed out a bit more". A gal-pal that can't make up her mind about anything and expects her friends to do it for her. She expects her "gay best friend" to be the kind of "Gay" that can help her plan her wedding. He's not up to the task that at all. He has a old boyfriend relationship that ended years ago that he's still hanging on to. It stops him from finding a real relationship.
Also, the groom's younger brother is just about everything this guy could want- he might be a little too perfect.
Everybody in the story has their good and bad points. The love between the friends is truly solid. Even if they are a bit crazy. In the end, love finds a way. There are a lot of pop-culture references, you might want to brush up. I liked this story. It would make a fun read at the beach this summer. Light, cheery and sweet.

Historia
Gabriel Delling might call himself a professional con artist, but when walking superstitions start trying to bite his face off, his charm is shockingly unhelpful. It turns out living nightmares almost never appreciate a good joke. Together with a succubus who insists on constantly saving his life, Gabe desperately tries to survive a new reality that suddenly features demons, legends, and a giant locust named Dale - all of whom pretty much hate his guts. And when an ancient horror comes hunting for a spirit locked in his head, Gabe finds himself faced with the excruciating choice between death...or becoming some kind of freaking hero.

This is a great start to a new series. The author should be rightly proud of his writing and of his narration abilities. Nicely done.
