I came across this book and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. It's difficult to find a good humorous novel, but this one definitely didn't disappoint. The story was coherent, and the writing was solid. It's a great blend of a sophisticated plot and subtle wit. The virtual voice was better than expected but lacked enthusiasm.

Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

Don't bother
Revisado: 08-24-18
I stopped and started this book several times because I really did not enjoy it but I wanted to somehow make it what I was sure would be a big reveal at the end. Well I made it to the reveal and it was not worth it. Bailed on the epilogue, I just really don't care much about these characters enough to finish. In Ready Player One the pop culture references were fun and an integral part of the story, here they are superfluous and heavily forced. I liked RP1 but I really wish that I had skipped this one.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Very enjoyable
Revisado: 08-04-16
What made the experience of listening to Ready Player One the most enjoyable?
Fun ride through a great story paying homage to the magical pop culture of the 80s. Movies, music, videogames, TV shows, all well reminisced to evoke nostalgia yet woven seamlessly into the story so as to feel integral and organic, not forced.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I looked for things to do around the house so I could listen.
Any additional comments?
Wil Wheaton does a great job narrating.

Historia
There’s something out there: A juggernaut of evil bearing down to crush the Republic - unless one lone Jedi, shunned and reviled, can stop it. Revan: Hero, traitor, conqueror, villain, savior. A Jedi who left Coruscant to defeat Mandalorians - and returned a disciple of the dark side, bent on destroying the Republic. The Jedi Council gave Revan his life back, but the price of redemption was high. His memories have been erased. All that’s left are nightmares - and deep, abiding fear.

Didn't even bother to finish this one.
Revisado: 07-17-16
Just awful. Ruined Revan, Canderous, and Bastilla as characters for me. If you are looking for an engaging story about Revan, maybe the story about the Mandolorian wars or finding the Star Forge, you will be just as disappointed as I am. This takes place well after the events of the game end and it is absolutely awful. I don't think I will take a chance on another Star Wars book for a while.

Historia
The second novel set in the Old Republic era and based on the massively multiplayer online game Star Wars: The Old Republic ramps up the action and brings listeners face-to-face for the first time with a Sith warrior to rival the most sinister of the Order’s Dark Lords: Darth Malgus, the mysterious, masked Sith of the wildly popular “Deceived” and “Hope” game trailers. Malgus brought down the Jedi Temple on Coruscant in a brutal assault that shocked the galaxy....

Is this a series?
Revisado: 07-17-16
The second book in this "series" was worse than the first, which I hated. From what I can tell, they are not at all related and the second appears to have taken place long before the first but does nothing to add to the experience of the first installment. If you are looking for books that will give you some backstory and immersion into the world of KOTOR, skip the first too. I am still holding out hope for "Revan" though.

It better pay off in the rest of the series.
Revisado: 06-17-16
This book was awful! Listening to it felt like work, but I didn't want to miss any possible origin stories for the rest of the series. If it turns out that I could have skipped it, I will be annoyed but I really hope that none of these characters show up again. Except maybe Clunker.

Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

Couldn't finish it. The narration was awful and distracting. Get the John Lee version if you can. This is the Audible equivalent of unwatchable television.
