The story is well-written and clever. The main character, David, was too often irritating and unlikable, but more tolerable in the final chapters. The narrator gave an acceptable performance, but I enjoyed reading the hardback more.

It’s Complicated

Kudos to the narrator for a stellar performance. The story however was so complicated and over-written that it was nearly impossible to follow. It’s desperately in need of editing. I’m an avid reader, and to be fair, I haven’t read a lot of fantasy. But I’ve read enough to feel this book was self-indulgent on the part of the writer. I cannot recommend this book. I would go so far as to say that I regret my purchase, and I won’t be continuing the series.

Imaginative

This is a beautiful, imaginative story; albeit complicated. Even though I enjoyed it, it was hard to follow at times. The narrator’s performance is outstanding.

Devastatingly Beautiful

OLEANDER is well written and astonishingly performed. If you enjoy MM Romance, beautiful love stories, heartbreaking and yet heartwarming audiobooks, this is a MUST listen. Do not pass it by.

CAPITALIZED, so it must be …

more of the same. The voice over performance by Michael Lesley is brilliant. However the story is just another version of Books One through Five. The graphic intimacy in this book seems gratuitous, redundant, and out of place. Perhaps because it’s the same grunts and groans we’ve heard in the previous books. Apparently there’s going to be a Book Seven, so I hope TJ Klune gets Verania out of his system after that.

Epic Conclusion. But wait!

Book Four continues this epic adventure narrated brilliantly by Michael Lesley. Each and every character is drawn beautifully, colorfully and endearingly. And just when you think you’re coming to the end, Book Five is waiting for you. This is a must read series for everyone who enjoys adult fairytales.

A Beautiful Story

Perhaps this story is not for everyone. But for those of us who experienced these events, and lost family, friends, and lovers to AIDS, it will move you deeply. The story is uniquely written, and performed with great talent and compassion. No matter who you are, or what you know, I recommend you listen.

Enthralling

John Boyne can draw a most despicable character in the most fascinating and beautiful ways. This story twists and turns, and weaves its way into the readers eyes and ears. The audiobook is performed by a talented cast. I highly recommend you give it listen, but be prepared for the emotions it will stir up.
