Not Mitch Rapp worthy.
Revisado: 09-11-24
Boring, very limited action. Rapp novels grab you right away, this is slow-moving, mostly tedious and shallow talking. I don’t know why they switched authors, but Vince Flynn would not have approved this guy. Wasted credit.

First King book I couldn’t finish.
Revisado: 09-19-23
Boring detective story, mixed with lame villains. Obsessive, repetitive Covid warnings and Trump bashing. It got so boring and repetitive, I actually stopped listening, a first for a King book. Pass on this one.

Historia
Martin Wolf has long been one of the wisest voices on global economic issues. He has rarely been called an optimist, yet he has never been as worried as he is today. Liberal democracy is in recession, and authoritarianism is on the rise. The ties that ought to bind open markets to free and fair elections are threatened, even in democracy’s heartlands, the United States and England.

Rambling and muddled.
Revisado: 02-20-23
This book was a major disappointment to me. I feel that severe income inequality and.the use of our legal system to favor the rich and powerful has created a potentially fatal flaw in our capitalist system. I was hoping this author would suggest a solution to those issues. If it was there, I missed it. The language was overly complex, striving to be eloquent instead of clear.

Historia
A long-buried family secret has come back to haunt Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast. It begins with murder. One of Pendergast's most implacable, most feared enemies is found on his doorstep, dead. Pendergast has no idea who is responsible for the killing, or why the body was brought to his home. The mystery has all the hallmarks of the perfect crime, save for an enigmatic clue: a piece of turquoise lodged in the stomach of the deceased. The gem leads Pendergast to an abandoned mine on the shore of California's Salton Sea.

Historia
Vladimir Putin is the world’s most dangerous man. Alone among world leaders, he has the power to reduce the United States and Europe to ashes in a nuclear firestorm and has threatened to do so. He invades his neighbors, most recently Ukraine, meddles in western elections, and orders assassinations inside and outside Russia. His regime is autocratic and deeply corrupt. But that is only half the story. Unflinching, hard-hitting, and objective, Philip Short’s biography gives us the whole tale, up to the present day.

Revisado: 08-05-22
29 hours of everything you wanted to know about Putin. Every major event in his life, every major decision, every influence, you can really see why Putin feels he is the injured party in many of his confrontations. The author kept me interested for 29 hours….an amazing feat. One of the very best books I’ve listened to.

Historia
In December 1941, bestselling author Craig Shirley celebrates the American spirit while reconstructing the events that called it to shine with rare and piercing light. Shirley puts listeners on the ground and the thick of the action. Relying on daily news reports from around the country and recently declassified government papers, Shirley sheds light on the crucial diplomatic exchanges leading up to the attack, the policies on the internment of Japanese people living in the U.S. after the assault, and the near-total overhaul of the U.S. economy to prepare for war.

They literally read newspapers to you!
Revisado: 08-02-22
I am a true World War II buff, and enjoy reading everything about all aspects of the war. I was very disappointed to find out this 30 day recap is literally someone reading the newspaper headlines to you day by day. Telling you what was playing at the movies, and what social events were happening that day. If it sounds entertaining, it’s really not!

Historia
If you asked most people what forces led to today’s unprecedented income inequality and financial crashes, no one would say the Federal Reserve. For most of its history, the Fed has enjoyed the fawning adoration of the press. When the economy grew, it was credited to the Fed. When the economy imploded in 2008, the Fed got credit for rescuing us.

The Fed made fascinating
Revisado: 01-21-22
This book literally blew me away. It is the Big Short of monetary policy. The Fed is funding trillions of initiatives that make up for the ineptitude of fiscal policy (congress). But their programs are designed to prop up mostly assets, creating the massive income inequality we have today. They have created the mother of all bubbles, which will pop disastrously in the future. It informed me, it scared me, it entertained me. What a book!

Like reading a textbook
Revisado: 01-21-22
This author is obviously incredibly knowledgeable about the topic and has important perspectives to share. But the book reads like a college text…..the three classifications of this, the four theories of that, the six components of the other thing, OMG, could you have a woven a little bit of a story flow into this to make it interesting? Consider some dramatic tension? We are talking potential war here.
