Historia
In a world that is “woke”, how many Christians are actually awake? This short theologically sound primer is a resource for pastors, ministry leaders, community leaders, and other thinking Christians that explains carefully and clearly what critical race theory and wokeness truly are, what the Bible teaches about race and ethnicity, why wokeness is distinct from Christianity and should be rejected, and how the church can work for unity based in the gospel of grace.

Important message
Revisado: 09-03-22
This book has an important message, but it gets repetitive towards the end. Also, the narrator mispronounces a lot of names that pop up frequently

Historia
Since the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court decision in 2015, sexual identity has dominated both public discourse and cultural trends — yet no historical phenomenon is its own cause. From Augustine to Marx, various views and perspectives have contributed to the modern understanding of the self.

Very heady and hard to follow, but important
Revisado: 07-17-22
The author has good points, and they is important for understanding the current state of our culture. I think there was some over-generalization at times, but that is the nature of building a sweeping narrative going back to the beginning of recorded history. Also, this book is sounds like a PhD thesis. Easier reads are easier to grasp and make it through, but if you have the time and attention to give (I listened to it over the course of a few hours of lawn work and a long road trip), you'll be a lot smarter and find a very useful framework for discussion

Historia
The most important fact about the coronavirus pandemic that turned the world upside down in 2020 is that our response to it has been an epic overreaction driven by a disastrous confluence of public and private interests - all of them purporting to “follow the science”. Since the lockdowns began, millions of Americans have relied on the reporting of Alex Berenson. Exposing the hysteria and manipulation behind the worst failure of public policy since World War I, this clear-eyed journalist has been a critical source of reason and truth.

Everyone should listen to this book
Revisado: 01-02-22
Don't be a sucker. Don't blow off this book because he's skeptical. Take the red pill amd see how far the rabbit hole goes, and believe me, the rabbit hole goes deep. And the author is hardly a right-wing extremist. He has more critical words about Trump as he does complementary words

Historia
Alisa Childers never thought she would question her Christian faith. She was raised in a Christian home, where she had seen her mom and dad feed the hungry, clothe the homeless, and love the outcast. She had witnessed God at work and then had dedicated her own life to leading worship as part of the popular Christian band ZOEgirl. All that was deeply challenged when she met a progressive pastor who called himself a hopeful agnostic. Another Gospel? describes the intellectual journey Alisa took over several years as she wrestled with a series of questions.

Some good new arguments, a lot of emotion & rehash
Revisado: 05-08-21
This is a very deep and intimate book. If you are looking for a coldly rational book of apologetics, read Evidence that Demands a Verdict or Stealing from God instead. But this is very comforting and passionate, if not unimpeachable and tighly formatted

Historia
Why America's sons are underachieving, and what we can do about it. Something is happening to boys today. From kindergarten to college, American boys are, on average, less resilient and less ambitious than they were a mere 20 years ago. The gender gap in college attendance and graduation rates has widened dramatically. In Boys Adrift, Dr. Leonard Sax delves into the scientific literature and draws on more than 20 years of clinical experience to explain why boys and young men are failing in school and disengaged at home.

Historia
The modern apologetics classic that started it all is now completely revised and updated - because the truth of the Bible doesn't change, but its critics do. With the original Evidence That Demands a Verdict, best-selling author Josh McDowell gave Christian audiences the answers they needed to defend their faith against the harshest critics and skeptics. Now, with his son Sean McDowell, Josh McDowell has updated and expanded this classic resource for a new generation. This is a book that invites listeners to bring their doubts.

Exhaustive
Revisado: 03-07-21
This is a great book and a must-read for anyone who really wants to know the truth.
The reason I give it only 4 stars for "Story" and "Performance" is there are multiple times when the different takes of the same sentence have been accidentally left in and it's rather dry in some places

Historia
If there's one lesson Oren Klaff has learned over decades of pitching, presenting, and closing long-shot, high-stakes deals, it's that people are sick of being marketed and sold to. Most of all, they hate being told what to think. The more you push them, the more they resist. What people love, however, is coming up with a great idea on their own, even if it's the idea you were guiding them to have all along. Often, the only way to get someone to sign is to make them feel like they're smarter than you.

Some good information with an off-putting delivery
Revisado: 12-22-20
Oren does a good job reading this. There are some riveting (probably mostly true) stories in the book, with a few mostly vague pieces of advice sprinkled throughout. The stories give it a lot of flavor if that's what you're looking for, but the useful, actionable information could fit in a 10-page pamphlet.
The whole book has the feel of a dodgy YouTube pre-roll ad, with the author casually mentioning his vast amounts of wealth while promising to let you in on some big secret. His wealth is very impressive and inspiring, but he's a snob about it. One of the later chapters spends a lot of time looking down on people in rural North Dakota for drinking "microwave coffee" and shopping at Walmart.
The book also focuses on sales and business situations only, which is not implied by the title or subtitle. Some of the techniques may be applicable outside of the sales profession, but certainly not all.
I will not be revisiting, and may in fact return it since I am not in sales and this book left a bad taste in my mouth

Lots of Christian strawmen
Revisado: 11-30-20
It has a lot of good tips and techniques and I think that we would all have better interactions with people if we all studied and learned these techniques. That being said, the authors either haven't talked to very many Christians, haven't talked with educated Christians, or are being dishonest in their portrayal of Christians. The narrator also has some difficulty pronouncing certain words, such as similarly. I would still recommend this book

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

Interesting stories, really bad attempts at humor
Revisado: 07-27-19
The stories in this little book are great and well researched. But there is a lot of very unfunny, very forced, attempts at humor that ruin it. The guy reading it did well, but the other performers and sound effects in this recording are really, really annoying
