Better to read than listen to this one
Revisado: 09-06-22
I am really disappointed with the latest installment in the Strike series. It may be a better to read rather than listen to the book. There are numerous sections reading online conversations that go on and on and have little to do with the story. Listening to the lengthy dialogs noting when one person or another is leaving or joining is so boring and frustrating to listen to. There are numerous characters, who have different usernames, so it is difficult to track all the characters. Much of the story is about who is using what username. At the end of the book, I really didn't understand why the person who performed the murders did so and not sure I care to understand. I assume this will eventually be televised in the Strike series and wondered if this was more the screen play, rather than a novel. There are certainly some exciting scenes, but way too much dialog. I also found myself frustrated with Strike and Robin, as they seem so brave when it comes to facing danger yet seem so afraid of a relationship beyond friendship.

Historia
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives - meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him.

great characters

Hard to put down. Could have done without the horrid description of the murder, but kept me guessing throughout the book. Really liking and caring about the two main characters.

Impact of Immigration Policies
Revisado: 08-20-19
This book personaluzes the impact of immigration policy. Through the eyes of the author we see the impact on agents, immigrants, friends, and community. The complexity of the problems is evident. although the solution may not be simple, it is certain that the status quo is not the solution. in developing policy we so often forget the impact on individuals and families. This read will not let us forget.

thought provoking work pitting science against religion. intertwine of a great story with real places, people, and organizations. Where do we come from? Where are we going? scientific discoveries posed to destroy the basis of many religions and lead to a great mystery but also requires one to consider how one reconciles science and religion.
