They were madly in love. The perfect couple. That was the story everyone in South River believed...until Gin Talcott and Adam Archer are found shot in their bed. Adam is dead at the scene. Gin is fighting for her life. Detectives Greta Jessup and Finn Pate are assigned to the case. Greta has a long history with Gin’s first husband, Eddie, and is determined to protect his 18-year-old twins. Piper discovered the bodies. Daniel is missing—and so is Adam’s gun.

I've decided that I'm really a fan of Wendy Walker. This is my first time listening to such an ensemble and I'm definitely a fan. This story had me engaged from the start and left me in awe. Great story and performances.

Hello Asher
Revisado: 07-02-23
While I've added several books of Corinne's to my TBR list, I believe this is my first read of hers. I enjoyed it, nice and unapologetically steamy.
I swear I'm a sucker for single parents w/ adorable kids. Phoebe was good, I really loved her connection w/ Olivia. Their relationship alone took this read over the top. I liked Asher too, he had that old school Alpha presence that I've been missing in some of the past books I've read.
I will say there was one part where I questioned the thought process but it wasn't enough to deter me. I look forward the rest of this series.

Historia
Veterinarian Marie Lehr knows unrequited love all too well after pining for her best friend, only to watch him marry another woman. It's a mistake she will never make again, especially not when she can practically hear the clock ticking on her childbearing years. The trouble is, she can't seem to find anyone who appeals to her even a fraction as much as that burly bush pilot did. Competitive musher Tyler Brady certainly doesn't, especially not after the heated altercation with the handsome but arrogant, spiteful man. Or so she thinks.

Running Wild
Revisado: 06-28-23
I was honestly unsure how I was going to like reading about Marie. She kind of rubbed me the wrong way in the previous books with Jonah but she was for sure redeemed here. I was able to empathize with her, in love with a man who felt differently sure can do some things to you.
Her dedication to the animals of Alaska and her love for her job endears her to you. Also loved how everything came together with Tyler. The way they first met and all of their interactions afterwards sure was something.
I love this entire series so hard, I really hope it continues.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Where the Crawdads Sing
Revisado: 07-26-22
4.5 stars
This was a tough listen at the start. Being in the mind of a child and experiencing her experiences, left me mad at almost everyone. I loved Kya's innocence in regards to almost everything and hated her having to fend for herself the way she did. I would have been bitter and angry at the world, but she was none of that. Kya adapted the best way she knew how and made it work. I loved everyone who came into her life that left a positive mark. I had a weak spot for Jumpin' and Tate from the start though.
Overall I thought this was a great read, I was left with all the feels by the end. Can't wait to see how they did with the adaption.

So Many Secrets
Revisado: 07-26-22
Ellice has a lot of secrets. She left her small town and family behind and is now a big time lawyer in Atlanta. After years of lies, her past has now come back to haunt after her boss is murdered.
For me I felt like Ellice was a pretty dumb, yet smart lawyer. She made a lot of questionable movements that left me shaking my head constantly. She was frustrating but she would always find a way to redeem herself.
I loved the pace. The drama and suspense were both great and left me wanting to find out what was going to happen next. I didn't know who to trust and I was left guessing until the end on who was behind it all. Great read!!

Historia
Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore is an expert on killers. She’s spent a decade treating California’s most depraved predators and unlocking their motives - predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning - and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned. If not for one new development.

This story was wild but I enjoyed it in a wtf kind of way. I can't say if going in blind was a plus or not since I expected something a lot more normal than what was presented. Lots of twists and turns that for sure left me guessing.

Historia
Motherhood isn’t easy, especially when you’re a mother of a Black son. Ten years ago, Cheryl jumped at the chance to send her son, Javonte, to an exclusive boarding school in New England - far away from Atlanta and the violence of the city streets. It was the American dream, or was it? Now settled in Vermont, Javonte is married and well-employed, but Cheryl hardly ever sees him, and when she does, her own son seems like someone she only used to know.

This was a very short listen that I wished was longer. While I got the gist of what Jones was going for, I wanted an acknowledgement of some kind from the son and not just the mother.

The Wrong Family
Revisado: 01-19-21
Winnie and Nigel have the perfect marriage, or so that’s what Juno thought before she moved in with them. Juno for the most part keeps to herself until one day she overhears a shocking family secret. Juno has a bad habit of overstepping so while not surprising that she chose to get involved, the events she sets in motion are just wow.
Tarryn sure does know how to write some messed up characters. I’ll be honest and say there was not really a likeable person to be had within this story. The wordplay and the way Fisher cast doubt in my mind was A1. I started to feel conflicting emotions because I found myself at one time or another feeling bad for women who did not deserve my sympathy. This story was insane, but I loved it.
