Historia
A major new biography of the Civil War general and American president, by the author of the New York Times bestseller A. Lincoln. The dramatic story of one of America's greatest and most misunderstood military leaders and presidents, this is a major new interpretation of Ulysses S. Grant. Based on seven years of research with primary documents, some of them never tapped before, this is destined to become the Grant biography of our times.

Unfairly smeared
Revisado: 08-06-20
Grant may have been the most honest genuine loving man to ever have been President. This book showed what kind of man Grant was and I was truly moved. Had he served for another two terms, I believe we would be a better Country today. He believed that all men were citizens and had the right to vote be they negro, Indian or Jewish and actively worked to achieve that. The smear job performed on him by his enemies has succeeded so well that it’s hard to imagine that after he left office, he was the Ali of his time. Highly recommend

An “invisible” is CIA-speak for the ultimate intelligence nightmare: The terrorist who, because he or she is an ethnic native of the target country, can cross its borders unchecked, move around that country unquestioned, and infiltrate its institutions with ease. An invisible on mainland Britain was the worst possible news. For Liz Carlyle, an MI5 Intelligence Officer, this report from MI6 marks the start of an operation that will test her to the limit and put her own life in jeopardy.

I binged it
Revisado: 03-26-20
If you like JK Rowling's detective novels like the Cuckoo's Calling, you will like this book. I liked it so much, I binged it. All 11 hours. I had never done that before but what else is one to do during the Coronavirus self-isolation? Although Liz Carlyle is not a Cormorant Stryker, her spunk and intelligence shown through. One interesting aspect of binging is that the introduction of new characters late in the plot seems seamless and I could see how this fits into the plot structure. Great narrator

Historia
In The Red and the Blue, cable news star and acclaimed journalist Steve Kornacki follows the twin paths of Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich, two larger-than-life politicians who exploited the weakened structure of their respective parties to attain the highest offices. For Clinton, that meant contorting himself around the various factions of the Democratic party to win the presidency. Gingrich employed a scorched-earth strategy to upend the permanent Republican minority in the House, making him speaker.

Historia
The hero of Everyman is obsessed with mortality. As he reminds himself at one point, "I'm 34! Worry about oblivion when you're 75." But he cannot help himself. He is the ex-husband in three marriages gone wrong. He is the father of two sons who detest him, despite a daughter who adores him. A masterful portrait of one man's inner struggles, Everyman is a brilliant showcase for one of the world's most distinguished novelists.

Interesting look at the legal drug industry
Revisado: 08-25-16
Would you listen to American Pain again? Why?
Yes, I missed a lot of detail
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
What will happen to the kingpins
What does Charlie Thurston bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Got inside the protagonists minds
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was shocked at how naive the protagonists were. Did they really not expect government intervention when dealing with millions of dollars? They were so thoroughly unprepared for a meltdown. Leaving all that cash in banks and family members homes is really stupid. Didn't they hear about safe deposit boxes? If they had put all that money in a safe place, they could have hired a better attorney.

Historia
Just Kids begins as a love story and ends as an elegy. It serves as a salute to New York City during the late 60s and 70s and to its rich and poor, its hustlers and hellions. A true fable, it is a portrait of two young artists' ascent, a prelude to fame.

Revisado: 07-16-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, I would not recommend this book to a friend because I found the reader, Patti Smith, very boring and the story she told, very boring.
What do you think your next listen will be?
House of Eight Orchids
Would you be willing to try another one of Patti Smith’s performances?
No
What else would you have wanted to know about Patti Smith’s life?
Nothing
Any additional comments?
I don't understand the rave reviews and awards this book has received. I found Patti Smith to be a terrible reader. If she had only put some of her passion into the reading, it might have been better. I didn't like how she didn't connect her own success with what happened to her and Robert. I was really disappointed in this book. I kept waiting for something interesting to be revealed.

Very complicated and hard to follow
Revisado: 02-01-16
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yes, get a better reader
What was most disappointing about David Walton’s story?
The plot was ridiculous. To believe that Quantum Physics could have duplicates of people running around is far fetched. To believe that Quantum Physics could create a new person is absurd. The creature that came from nowhere makes no sense. The book itself makes no sense.
Would you be willing to try another one of LJ Ganser’s performances?
No
Did Superposition inspire you to do anything?
Yes, to learn more about quantum physics
Any additional comments?
This book was very juvenile and unreadable. The discussions about quantum physics were way too complicated for the average reader. I know a little something about quantum physics and I found it too hard to follow. People will be wasting a credit.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If I had been a blind folded and didn't know who had written the book, I would have guessed Gillian Flynn. The book is somewhat like the format of Gone Girl but even more complicated. The plot goes back and forth through time and I usually don't like those kind of books. But what I find myself doing was going back to previous chapters and starting over from that point. You can't go to sleep on this one. I really liked having four different voices for each of the main characters. It made the plot follow much easier and believe me you'll need it. You never know what's going to happen next. Really. The characters are all so creepy and amoral but are completely believable. I liked The Water Knife better than The Windup Girl but Paolo Bacigalupi is one of my favorite authors now.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Water Knife?
The last revelation
