Outstanding! Must listen
Revisado: 08-26-24
One of the best books I’ve listened to. As a believer, I’ve questioned much of what I seen written, posted, and preached by many of the people listed in this book. Megan Basham does an outstanding job explaining how these “spiritual leaders” are replacing biblical truth with their own cultural Christianity ideology in a chase for power, fame, and virtue.

Historia
Jeff Struecker, a "Black Hawk Down" hero, the Army's Top Ranger, now an Army Chaplain, relates his own tales from the frontlines of every U.S. initiative since Panama, and tells how God taught him faith from the front in fear-soaked times. As listeners go on-mission with Struecker through his harrowing tales, they will learn how to face their own fears with faith in a mighty God. Just as he told one of his charges in Mogadishu: "The difference between being a coward and a hero is not whether you're scared, it's what you do while you're scared."

What does the Bible say about women? Plenty. The Bible has story after story about fascinating women. They’re more nuanced than men, have profound insights people often overlook, and can teach wisdom that everyone needs to hear. Ideal for personal reflection or group Bible study, Women of the Bible is an excellent listen with stimulating stories that are interesting, informative, and entertaining. As a bonus, each woman’s story ends with thought-provoking questions for private introspection or group discussion.

Peter DeHaan does a great job of providing a comprehensive, yet concise look at all the women of the Bible. He adds a challenge or question for personal action represented by each woman of the Bible. Also, I love that on Audible you can click on chapters and see the comprehensive list. Then, by clicking on the woman, it takes you to the chapter about her. Great resource with tons of scripture references for future study. Highly recommended!

Historia
The Dunker Church is one of the most iconic structures of the American Civil War. Surprisingly, few people know much if anything about its fascinating story or the role it played within the community of Sharpsburg and its importance during and after the Battle of Antietam. September Mourn: The Dunker Church of Antietam by Alann D. Schmidt and Terry W. Barkley rectifies this oversight in the first book-length study of its kind. On September 17, 1862, two mighty armies grappled across the rolling hills, fields, and woodlots surrounding Sharpsburg, Maryland.

Historia
By August 1968, the American space program was in danger of failing in its two most important objectives: to land a man on the moon by President Kennedy's end-of-decade deadline and to triumph over the Soviets in space. With its back against the wall, NASA made an almost unimaginable leap: It would scrap its usual methodical approach and risk everything on a sudden launch, sending the first men in history to the moon - in just four months.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

One of the most fascinating books I’ve ever read. Definitely a lot of self reflection takes place while listening to this. The language used in the book is very harsh but certainly understandable. I highly recommend people read this book. It will force you to take a look at how you react to other people and different socio economic situations.
