Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

Haven't read the 2nd book...
Revisado: 11-14-15
What did you like best about The Mirror of Her Dreams? What did you like least?
There is nothing I can say that I like about the "best" or the "least". The initial aspect that turned me off of the book was the reader. His over dramatic manner of reading turned me off from the get go. It wasn't until later in the book that he calmed down that I actually really started paying attention. It was then that I started noticing how feeble the main character, Teresa, was. My God woman, grow a spine!!!!! I've had a tough childhood. You develop coping mechanisms and they allow you to maintain yourself. They don't usually turn you into a puddle of nothingness.
If you’ve listened to books by Stephen R. Donaldson before, how does this one compare?
Haven't although I bought the 2nd.
What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?
He sounded like he was reciting Shakespeare yet he wasn't. This was very prominent at the beginning and thankfully dropped off about midway.
Did The Mirror of Her Dreams inspire you to do anything?
No

Toward the end it became very tedious with the repetitive dialogue just about word for word from previous dialogue.

Good but What's up with all the Stereotype Characters?
Revisado: 09-16-15
Not all conservatives are bad and not all liberals are good. Also, just because you remove an abuser from someone's life doesn't always mean they stay gone especially on the first try.

Needs a New Title
Revisado: 07-15-09
This book is definitely not about Attila although he is a character in the book. He's just not the main character as the title implies. Also, the narrater's choice of voice for Attila is absolutely ludicrous...like a bad used car ad.

Documentary Biography
Revisado: 11-26-07
The description of this book gives the reader the impression that you will be listening to a novel when, in fact, you are read a documentary biography about the life of Emma Hamilton. The book is written as a collection of facts with suppositions and the supporting reasoning. I enjoyed learning about this lady but I felt like I was listening to the Discovery Channel. At times, the author was confusing in the manner in which details were related because the reference to time was left out and it was often not clear as to whom the author was talking about. Anyway, the book is not a complete waste of money but you should know it is definitely not a novel and isn't narrated like one either.

Golden Egg
Revisado: 05-14-07
I couldn't get through the book. I don't even think I made it halfway. The sound quality was so poor that I had to turn the volume practically all the way up and then the hissing drove me crazy. I couldn't even listen to it in the car because of the poor sound quality. I don't know whether I would have liked the storyline because I couldn't hear enough of it to follow along long enough to get into the book. My advice is to save your money and wait for another reading to come out if it ever does.

Save Your Money
Revisado: 07-17-06
I'm not sure what the author was attempting to convey with this book. The characters were mediocore at best and the plot...what plot? The research may have been extensive but I would have stayed awake more with a textbook.
