Clary's books have over forty-five hundred four and five-star ratings. Two ugly baby dragons and a pair of likable irreverent humans fill this adventure that builds to the last page while drawing the reader into situations not quite like any other book about dragons. Maybe the people who interact with dragons are not always those who are brave and honorable. Fighting on the losing side of a war is bad enough. getting stuck babysitting a pair of infant dragons in a foreign land is worse. There must be a way to turn the situation in their favor...

Revisado: 01-29-25
AI voice did a poor job of narrating the story, caused me to lose interest and stop listening. Can’t match a real voice actor to make the story come alive

When cougar-shifter Lily Mason moves to Moonrise, Missouri, she wishes for only three things from the town and its human population...to find a job, to find a place to live, and to live as a human, not a therianthrope. Lily gets more than she bargains for when a rescue pit bull named Smooshie rescues her from an oncoming car, and it's love at first sight. Thanks to Smooshie, Lily's first two wishes are granted by Parker Knowles, the owner of the Pit Bull Rescue center, who offers her a job at the shelter and the room over his garage for rent.

Thoroughly Lovable!
Revisado: 04-15-23
I got this book because of the Pittie and it didn’t disappoint. The plot moves along nicely and the characters are relatable. The paranormal aspect makes it fun and the dogs steal the show. I’m happily moving on to the next in the series.

Historia
Normally, not even drunk on a bet would Violet Parker go to Slagton, a creepy ghost town inhabited by those too stubborn - or deranged - to leave. But a certain bullheaded Deadwood detective has a problem - his informant from Slagton has gone missing. When Violet is shanghaied into taking a hunting trip to the ghost town to search for the missing snitch, she stumbles into trouble that will take more than a double-barreled shotgun to escape. Will Violet survive this new hell that haunts her, or will she end up on Slagton's growing list of those "gutted and hung"?

The Protagonist of This Series.........UGH!
Revisado: 03-26-23
I'm 9 books down in this series and I'm getting less and less tolerant of Violet Parker's foibles. Will she EVER quit her whining and own her life? She plays the victim card so often that it's a wonder she can ever get out the front door of her house. Will she ever be grateful for the positive things in her life and own up to her strengths without walking everything backwards and playing down all the good things in her life? She holds a grudge like a newborn baby and is so jealous of every good thing anyone around her has that it's pathetic. She's got a great job and feels like every day is going to be her last. She got a great boyfried and is convinced he's going to dump her any second. Will she ever own her paranormal skills and quit crying about how she wants everything to go back to normal?
These books are well written with awesome storylines but the main protagonist, Violet Parker, is a weak kneed sister who gets less likable by the book. There are 13 books and 5 short stories in the Deadwood Mysteries series and I'm on the 10th book so far. I'm not sure I'll make it through the entire series because of my growing dilike for Violet Parker. Her absolute lack of belief in herself and her constant whining and complaining and her attempts to avoid learning about her family history and sidestep her inherited duties get more and more obnoxious as the series goes along.

I Couldn't Make It Through The First Chapter
Revisado: 11-04-22
I can normally get past most things that other people give poor reviews to, but not this time. The story may be fine, I'm never going to know. The narrator's voice is just so monotone and so ...... deadly dull that I made it 12 minutes into the first chapter and was fidgeting like my seat was on fire. I just can't. I hate to put the whole thing down to 1 star, but without being able to make it through the entire book, I can't tell you it was any better than that. The narrator just KILLED the whole thing for me.
Reviews stated that the earlier book was a bit better and I tried to find it but I'm not paying to read (Kindle) or listen (Audible) when the one I've got has gotten such deadly reviews. Unfortunately, this narrator is so bad that I don't care if the every book the author has written is free, I'm not interested.
I love cooking, love cozy mysteries and really was pre-disposed to love this series. Sorry I just can't.

Historia
In 1908, Hazel Drew was found floating in a pond in Sand Lake, New York, beaten to death. The unsolved murder inspired rumors, speculation, ghost stories, and, almost a century later, the phenomenon of Twin Peaks. Who killed Hazel Drew? Like Laura Palmer, she was a paradox of personalities - a young, beautiful puzzle with secrets. Perhaps the even trickier question is, Who was Hazel Drew? The investigation that followed her brutal murder was fraught with red herrings, wild-goose chases, and unreliable witnesses.
