This was not even a story. It is truly about the cheesiest thing I have ever listened to in my life. Basically, a lady being dramatic and voicing her affirmations. The best thing about it was the virtual voice. It was one of the better ones I’ve ever heard.

Tragic
Revisado: 01-26-25
I seldom write reviews. I never read reviews or previews- I just jump right in. Maybe I should start- it might have saved me from this trauma;) I’ll start by saying I’m a 54 year old blatantly honest nurse of humans (30 years) and squirrels (8 years). I want animal lovers to know this is absolutely not something you want to read. I should clarify- basic animal lovers- you can handle it. Those of us who have a special connection with animals- don’t do it. No. Do not. Just keep moving along. I wish someone had written my review and I had enough sense to read it before I took on this book. Then there’s the human factor. The evil characters far outnumber the good ones. Only one got what he deserved. The tragedy of this story will stay with me for a long time. We find enough sadness in life without intentionally reading it. I’ll put it this way- I have a few friends who are going through some pretty heavy issues right now. A lot of loss and grieving in their lives. They would not deal well with this book. They cannot take any more weight on their minds. It would probably shove them right over the edge. Have I given enough mental health warnings?! Maybe not- ok- if you enjoy torturing, maiming, and imprisoning both humans and animals, go ahead. As far as the writing itself- excellent with the exception of a couple of my pet peeves (quick second, long minute). Not enough to keep me from listening to another from this author- but I will definitely check reviews first. I have read approximately two books in my lifetime that I didn’t figure out where they were heading. If you’re like me, the ending will come as no surprise. I also enjoyed the narration for the most part- sherBERT was the only cringe-worthy mispronunciation.

Historia
Money does not buy happiness. Or guarantee HEA. Or keep cheating husbands faithful. Especially when lies, secrets, and suspicions wreak havoc in two marriages. Sophia Leifer, recently married to a man richer than a Saudi sheik, believes she is now safe from a dark secret in her past. Jessica Maguire, high-strung, spoiled, and jealous hates the elegant, stunning Sophia on sight. Because, for the first time ever, Jessica's bragging about her sexy husband sounds hollow. She controls the purse strings; he has to know where he's made his bed. When Sophia miscarries, she longs for comfort from ...

Absurdity
Revisado: 01-15-25
The narration isn’t even the worst part. I honestly don’t mind auto-bot narrators. They at least have an excuse for some of things they say. Here’s the beginning in a nutshell- this fella has sex with his wife three times. Later he finds she has puked and sh*# the bed. He pretends he’s going looking for his cat and goes to the house next door where he finds the neighbor lady having a miscarriage. He takes her to the hospital and sits there with her for three hours, then takes her home and they have sex on the patio. Need I say more. This is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Unfinishable.

Historia
What happened to Peter’s first family? His wife, his children—all of them are dead, and rumors swirl around Peter himself as the culprit. My name is Aubree Van Lullen, once whispered about for all the wrong reasons. But that was before Peter Woodley entered my life, a man accused of the unthinkable—murdering his family. The gravity of his past should have frightened me away, but instead, I found myself pulled closer. A kinship of two souls wronged by the misconception given by the world. He expounded his innocence. And now I’ve built my own family with him. We did our best to leave ...

Ending:)
Revisado: 12-30-24
A lot of reviews concentrate on the robot voice. I actually kind of liked it because the mistakes are more forgivable than when they are coming from a human.
I actually liked the storyline. Almost every book I listen to I figure out right away, or at least very early on, what has happened and who did what. This was a scenario I did not consider!

On the abandoning side of the fence
Revisado: 05-15-22
For someone who never writes reviews, this is the second one I’ve written this morning. I’m halfway through this book and I’m probably going to abandon it. I very rarely abandon books but I can see by other reviews I’m not the only one who didn’t like this story. I don’t read reviews ahead of time (I find them more interesting after) or even book descriptions I just start listening. I’m not drinking the Covid Kool-Aid and this book really dumps a pitcher right on your head. I recently listened to another book by Overington & liked it so I thought I’d try another. This isn’t the one.

Oh boy.
Revisado: 05-15-22
I don’t read reviews ahead of the book. I just start listening. I very rarely write reviews. Some things I heard here moved me to do so. I didn’t realize there were four different authors until I went to write this review. Knowing now that there were four authors explains a lot. Here are my issues. Diesel fuel in a jet. A sixteen wheeler truck. An endoscopy up the nose. Last but not least, BRAT diet, T for bread😂. Just a few things that caught my ear- honestly after the diesel passage this book didn’t have a lot of credibility. Why didn’t the authors give each other feedback? Some books I keep listening to even though I’m not sure why. This was one of them. Not an awful story. The narrators did great. Those who pay attention to detail will be very entertained.

Gently banging head on wall
Revisado: 03-03-22
I was several chapters into this book before I realized it sounded an awful lot like another book that I couldn’t finish (very rare for me). A little investigating and I realized the other book was Ancient Ones by the same author. In my personal book diary I had written ‘not my cup of tea, couldn’t do six more hours of it, life is too short’. Why I decided 13 hours of this one was acceptable? I don’t know- out of sheer determination perhaps. I did find myself a little curious about what these people were up to. I did figure out where one aspect of it was headed pretty early on, possibly aided by my medical background (more on this in a bit;) I didn’t mind the narrator- he was really working hard at times! I don’t normally write nor read reviews. I blindly read (or listen to) books. To me books are like food - no two people will think the same thing. I like it to be a surprise. Anyway, what prodded me to write this review is WHY DO AUTHORS WRITE MEDICAL SITUATIONS WITHOUT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL CONSULT?!?!?! These mistakes just annoy the living daylights out of me. I would volunteer my services free of charge. End of rant. End of head banging. Probably will still do some head shaking.

Historia
Author Leslie Lehr wants to talk about boobs. She’s gone from size AA to DDD and everything between, from puberty to motherhood, enhancement to cancer, and beyond. And she’s not alone - these are classic life stages for women today. At turns funny and heartbreaking, A Boob’s Life explores both the joys and hazards inherent to living in a woman’s body. Lehr deftly blends her personal narrative with national history, starting in the 1960s with the women’s liberation movement and moving to the current feminist dialogue and what it means to be a woman.

Disappointed
Revisado: 07-08-21
I was somewhat on board with this book until it all came to a screeching halt. Very little structure or actual storyline, but engaging enough content to keep me listening. I enjoyed the facts and data. I found the personal health aspects of the story interesting. Then I’m suddenly berated for being a very stupid, ignorant person. How dare I have different thoughts and views than Leslie. Same song and dance, the intolerant preaching about intolerance. Had I known this ass chewing for being Republican was coming I wouldn’t have bothered listening. Sneaky putting it near the end of the book.
