As the summer winds down, Mookie might be closing in on the mystery on the Lady of the Lake…until another girl goes missing. As Mookie prepares to leave her new friends (she has friends!) a curious gift shows up under her pillow in the form of a friendship bracelet. Is it a clue?

I really enjoyed this listen! Reminded me of years of Girl Scout Camp both as a scout and later a leader and day camp director. Good fun!

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Gave me a lot to think about
Revisado: 01-27-23
I would encourage white people to give this book an open minded listen, and then seek out more information. It opened my eyes to a lot of things about my own behavior and ways that I was taught were “good” ways to be that are damaging to people of color. Thank you for sharing this work.

Historia
When she was suddenly given the opportunity of a new life in rural Jutland, journalist and archetypal Londoner Helen Russell discovered a startling statistic: the happiest place on earth isn't Disneyland but Denmark, a land often thought of by foreigners as consisting entirely of long, dark winters, cured herring, Lego and pastries. What is the secret to their success? Are happy Danes born or made?

I enjoyed learning more about Danish culture and thinking about ways I could improve happiness. I found the author down to earth and funny, and the narration pleasant to listen to.

Excruciating

I’ve tried listening to this a few times and could use something helpful- but I can’t do it. It’s over the top drama- might would be easier to read than listen to. Deleted the book from my library.
