I won't say at what part because I don't want to ruin any story elements for anybody. but near the end there is a part I literally had tears. just goes to show you how invested you become in certain characters.

amazing story weakened by cultural references

The overall story is very good and I enjoy the character building. The only downsides that the story presents for me is one that's common to every lit RPG. whenever the author goes over the characters stats and lists everything it takes two to three minutes. and in this book that happens a lot easily half an hour is just been on that. The other bigger issue is the overuse of cultural references. Even to things like SpongeBob. it just takes away from the story.

Its Zelda...

I'm all for making references in books about movies or games or whatever. It's funny and adds an air to the story. However, this is far and away from a reference. This author took the legend of zelda world and just wrote a story about a girl questioning game mechanics. the was no character development at all. I couldn't tell you a thing about the MC other then she wanted the sword. That's it, not her likes, dislikes, hair color, Not a thing. Even what they do is bland, why does it take 10 mins to explain you can put rocks in and out of your bags? The same can be said about any character in the book. If you are someone who is a zelda fan I could see you enjoying the book other than that it's almost sad.

However I will say the voice actors do an amazing job at trying to breath life into this book. They are honestly the only thing that even kept me listening at all. I fully admit that after getting through 1/2 this book I couldn't take it anymore and just stopped reading. The story and game references / questions got to be too much for me. It's like writing a book based in a superhero world and having your MC go "buy how can superman fly without wings? What makes lift happen? guess ill never know." and move on to ask more of the same dumb questions.

nothing happened

i felt like nothing happened in the whole book. SC didn't learn anything, get new powers, learn how to use his powers better or anything. not to mention the narrator constantly using incorrect words I don't know if that was the narrator's fault or if the author had it written that way in the book but either way it should have been fixed. It's very clear no one review the audio recording or at least closely reviewed it

story was good, what I hated was the PING when a skill leveled up. add to that it would happen over and over literally gave me a headache at some points

Loved the book only one thing

I Loved the book and would recommend it to anyone who likes LITRPGs. The only thing I didn't like was how they kept going back and forth from the point of views. I would have liked it if it stayed on the MC more.

best superhero series I've ever read

this is hands-down the best superhero series I've ever read or I guess I should say listened to. I would recommend this book to anybody with the only caveat being it is very long. so it does require an investment in your time but the payoff is so worth it. The characters develop so well and so organic throughout the story it's impressive and you end up having real connections with some of them because you spend so much time reading about them and learning about them. it's so interesting to see them grow and the challenges they faced in the overall arching story is so good I honestly couldn't put these books down. the only thing I'm sad to say is that as far as I know the author is not planning on continuing the series which is a shame because it's so good.
