JD should be proud
Revisado: 03-02-25
The story has to be one of JD's best. It is definitely different from his usual writing. It is good to see him spread out to a new style of writing with excellent results. He definitely leveled up on this one. The narrators were amazing!

Giving the Devil his due
Revisado: 12-19-24
I love the quick witted characters and well written story. It gives a whole new take on the Devil you know. I love this series and can't wait for the next audiobook. Not only does this book give you something to laugh about, but it also keeps you thinking. I am not going to give away spoilers but if you love sarcasm and a new view, this book is for you.

Revisado: 11-26-23
I have read the Runer Series and love the books. The writing is so well done that you can almost feel the grains of sand hitting your face. Add this fantastic narration to it, and you have a living, breathing scene surrounding you! This is now my favorite series of all time! If there are any Netflix agents out there, this needs to be the next series that you make.

Not Everyone Is Who They Seem To Be
Revisado: 04-14-23
The author, JC Fuller, is a self-published author who should be put on store shelves nationwide. JC is a master at twists and turns, red herrings, and pulling the rug out from under you just when you think you have the mystery solved. If you love a good contemporary mystery, then her series is for you. Especially if you liked the Jessy Stone Series.
The characters have rich depths and are very relatable. My personal favorites are Sheriff Lane and Phillip Russell, the park ranger. This dynamic duo play so well off of each other that you know there is something more between them, they just haven't realized it yet!
The world-building is very well done. It is a perfect blend of appropriate descriptions that helps the story move along. JC has thought this out meticulously, creating a true work of art. In fact, I could see her Rockfish Island Mystery series becoming a tv series. ARE YOU LISTENING NETFLIX? If she decided to put together a Kickstarter to create her own tv series, I would invest.
I am not going to give any spoilers away because I want you to experience the amazing journey through this "who done it" as I did. You will get hooked from the first chapter and never look back. Just remember that not everyone is who they seem to be!
The narration for the Rockfish Island Mystery is performed by Nancy Peterson, a master at the art of narration. Nancy creates the characters with an ease that is awe-inspiring. I have to tip my hat to this amazing team of author and narrator. This is what happens when fate loves you! False Findings, the third book in the series is stronger yet. Don't forget to pick up all three books in the series at the same time. You will need them when you finish the first book and find yourself needing more of the story. As for me, I am off to find a bear to arm wrestle so JC will work on book 4!

Poor Choice
Revisado: 02-22-22
Everything went downhill when the voice actor started speaking, the story just made it worse. They should use this series as a way to torture confessions out of people. Seriously. The voice actor (not sure that he would qualify for that job title) had a speech pattern similar to Christopher Walken with the pitch of a preteen. The story line was weak and spastic as well. Between the 2 issues, I couldn't force myself to keep listening. I decided to have another person listen to a little bit and see what they thought. A half hour later my friend was asking what he had ever done to deserve that kind of punishment. Too bad I couldn't give it zero stars.

Like Nails On Chalkboard
Revisado: 11-05-21
I wish I could give a review on the story but I couldn't hear it through the vocal artist. It was like listening to nails running on a chalkboard. There was no way that I could possibly finish listening to this story. I ended up deleting it from my library.
Now, I know that voices are a subjective thing. What bothers me may not bother you. So, go ahead and give the story a try. You can always return it if you don't like it.

Historia
In this tantalizing tale of Victorian ghost stories and family secrets, timid, solitary librarian Gerard Freeman lives for just two things: his elusive pen pal Alice and a story he found hidden in his mother's drawer years ago. Written by his great-grandmother Viola, it hints at his mother's role in a sinister crime. As he discovers more of Viola's chilling tales, he realizes that they might hold the key to finding Alice and unveiling his family's mystery - or will they bring about his untimely death, as they seem to foretell?

Monotonous
Revisado: 08-15-21
Just as the main character was bored beyond comprehension, so was I. The mindless drivel that is supposed to be back story so the listener can fill in the blanks...has no real interest. I couldn't even make it through the first chapter. Should someone ever need a tool of psychological torture to get the enemy to speak, this book played on repeat would be ideal.

I love it when you get a great storyline read by a talented vocal actor! Every moment of this great whodunit played out like a movie in my head because of it. In fact, this series by JD Kirk should be on the screen! Until it is, I look forward to listening the talented Angus King bring the rest of JD Kirk's crime series to life.
