Historia
A revolution brewing for generations has begun in fire. It will end in blood. The Free Navy - a violent group of Belters in black-market military ships - has crippled the Earth and begun a campaign of piracy and violence among the outer planets. The colony ships heading for the thousand new worlds on the far side of the alien ring gates are easy prey, and no single navy remains strong enough to protect them. James Holden and his crew know the strengths and weaknesses of this new force better than anyone.

Series just gets better and better
Revisado: 02-09-25
I'm lazy and have been terrible about writing reviews but was inspired to say that this book might have the best ending I've ever encountered. It provided resolution without finality and providing a framework for future stories. It also challenged me and caused me to think more deeply than I have been in a while and without being at all trite and made space for me to feel hopeful about humanity.
Of course, I feel that the whole book was well written and full of great stories with further development of characters that often surprised me as I thought I knew them fairly thoroughly before. I've enjoyed the series, but this book was definitely my favorite so far.
Thank you Mr. Corey!

Historia
Our future is the past, and the present is forever altered by it. Science is both the liberator and the destroyer: creating heroes and villains alike. Three children find themselves living in a world of vicious cycles, subject to the whims of ages long past. Torn from their families by a combination of greed, politics, and circumstance; this is their story—their loss of innocence.

Revisado: 06-17-24
In a way I’m more personally familiar with Jade then with any other author of red as I have been following him on TikTok for sometime. This book, as a first effort, both in terms of publishing and audio production shows some of the lack of polish that I’ve seen from other authors and publishers in initial works. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and Jade’s narration is engaging and entertaining. I’m definitely recommending this one and I can’t wait till the rest of the series is available in audiobooks.

Becoming repetitive and predictable
Revisado: 10-16-22
I’ve loved the book series from the beginning, but while the story has developed, the writing and character development has become repetitive and predictable. I am afraid that the series might have gone on too long.

Historia
Gabe abandoned life as a conman after the disasters in Lincoln, and he managed to carve out a bit of peace with the scraps he had left. Unfortunately, bad guys suck at respecting personal boundaries. So, together with Heather and a group of weird new companions, he finds himself shackled to a horrifying cosmic game with sky-high stakes, inscrutable goals, and rules that seem to change every five minutes. And when old gods and monsters resurface to make things so much worse, he's finally forced to admit that he might not be talking his way past any of it.

Amazingly well crafted
Revisado: 07-08-22
First of all, on your performance, I have always been skeptical of authors that choose to perform their own work. I’ll admit that you do not sound like a polished professional, but it is obvious that this is a labor of love and you want to get it exactly right. It’s amazing how much more accurate and polished your performances are than some of my favorite narrators. You do an admirable job of changing voice tones to Meade the characters come alive and be believable. Great job! Now, on the book itself. I never been very good at writing reviews, especially on the first listen. I think that I get too involved and not reading critically. The few times that I have found that I could write a thoughtful critique, it was because I was not drawn in. Your story at me driving so completely that I simply can’t do a critical review. All I can tell you is that I enjoyed it thoroughly and that it seems as if it was very well written and a much better product than I would’ve expected from a newer author. I am glad you decided to take up the craft!

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Has it all: story line, narration, characters
Revisado: 05-08-21
I enjoyed all aspects of this story from the creativity of the story line to the character development. The narrator is one of my favorites as well. Nice production with additions of the alien "language."

Historia
During a perfect spring evening on Nantucket, a violent storm erupts and a dome of crawling, colored fire blankets the island. When the howling winds subside and the night skies clear, the stars appear to have shifted. The mainland has become a wilderness of unbroken forest, where tools of bronze and stone litter the beaches, and primitive natives scatter in terror.

This is one of my favorite book series!
Revisado: 07-15-17
Would you listen to Island in the Sea of Time again? Why?
It is a great story and an extremely well crafted novel. The complaints I am reading in the reviews seem so similar in theme - calling the book politically correct, objecting to a strong lesbian character, etc. So obviously homophobic and misogynistic. If you don't have a low intelligence or a closed mind I think that you will enjoy this series a great deal. There ARE many coincidences in this book and the coincidences are part of the story and are brought up. To criticize the story for the coincidences that are core to the story is a bit obtuse. It basically helps to convince me that someone has organized a hatchet job on the series and the author.
Which character – as performed by Todd McLaren – was your favorite?
Most of the main characters will very well developed. Both the heroes and villains. They all were interesting and I thought, very human if often quite exceptional. I would have a hard time picking. Martha might be my favorite. Strong woman with an extremely sharp mind.

Historia
Pocket has been Lear's cherished fool for years. So naturally Pocket is at his brainless, elderly liege's side when Lear demands that his kids swear to him their undying love and devotion. Of course Goneril and Regan are only too happy to brownnose Dad. But Cordelia believes that her father's request is kind of...well...stupid, and her blunt honesty ends up costing her her rightful share of the kingdom and earns her a banishment to boot.

Enjoy thoroughly at your own risk!
Revisado: 02-26-09
There is enough explicit description of sexual acts, some rather quite out of the ordinary, enough foul language (albeit mostly of British derivation) and enough religious satirical humor to offend many if not most on some level. However, if you enjoy that sort of humor, if you enjoy Monty Python-esc humor based on linguistic anachronisms I think you may react to this book the way I have: by laughing until you cry.
Enjoy!

Historia
John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce—and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So: we fight. To defend Earth, and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding. Earth itself is a backwater.

Unique and entertaining
Revisado: 02-26-09
I've enjoyed a lot of sci-fi genre books recently that were only a variation on one familiar theme or another. This one was completely new to me and what a read (listen!) I found it funny and thought provoking and completely entertaining! Highly recommended - as a matter of fact this is the first time I've been moved to write a review and my library includes about 75 audiobooks.
