Today's view of history cannot account for ancient anomalies, such as the Pyramids and advanced knowledge contained in India's Vedas. But in 1894, an Indian sage gave us an explanation not only for our hidden past but for the trends of today and for our future enlightenment - the 24,000-year yuga cycle.

Not perfect, but a very intriguing proposal
Revisado: 09-16-23
I am quite deeply into eastern spirituality, so a lot of this makes intuitive sense to me and I can therefore not say that I am without bias. I have listened to this several times throughout the last years, and it is very enjoyable and thought provoking.
If one expects this to be a 'proof', or scientific literature, then one has not demonstrated sound judgment, this is clearly going to be "out there"'. But if you listen to it with an open mind, and focus on the general ideas, then it should be a very interesting read that will probably grow on you over time.
I'm not so sure if the ideas contained in this book will be of much interest or make much sense to someone who hasn't already studied the history of religions and of civilization. If you are someone who thinks that everything that is 'established in science' today is almost certainly true, then you can skip this book, it is surely not meant for you.
As for the critique that this is not the correct Yuga teachings, it is true that this is an unorthodox interpretation, that is exactly what it is. It is an alternative interpretation, if your mind can not handle more than one interpretation of the same concept then this book is also not for you. Why would you keep tormenting your orthodox self like this, why do you read new books? You never need to read a new book in your life, because you already have it all figured out.

In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

It must be difficult for the "woke crowd" to hear
Revisado: 09-13-22
As we can see from the extreme reactions in the reviews, calling the book and the author all kinds of things. However this book is a thorough and intelligent analysis of the reality of our culture. If you are confused about "woke" ideology or if you are frustrated by it, this book will be a great relief of sanity. If you are woke, identify strongly with anti-racism, etc, then you better prepare to open your mind and listen.
There is nothing mean or hateful about this book, or racist, or sexist, or homophobic or transphobic. The negative reactions that people are showing is, of course, a strong reaction of denial and of refusing to look themselves in the mirror.
It does not stir more hate, only the people who are already full of hate will find this book to stir hate. That is because anything that aggravates them causes them to become hateful.
If you truly care about these issues, you should listen to the whole thing, and, if you disagree, take notes a long the way and prepare to use reason and logic to dispute the points made by the author. But simply calling him names, attacking his human qualities (that only attacks anyone with the same qualities), or saying things such as "they just don't get it", will only serve to reinforce the points of the author.
It is time that the woke finally wakes up, and accepts that they have fallen into religion and that they are not fighting racism at all, but instead they are the main propagators of racism and are spreading hate and dividing people. The woke are the nazis of our time, and an excellent modern demonstration of how Nazi Germany, a force of evil, could arise from a population of people that are not evil. This is a flaw in our psychology, nothing more, you are not evil for being woke, you wish well, but it is your responsibility to let go and to evolve.
However, I will have to deduce 1 star due to the fact that this book, too, holds some political bias towards "Marxists", but the woke movement has nothing to do with Marxism, even if some of them may identify as that. This goes back to the principles outlined in the book itself, of generalization.

Revisado: 05-11-22
This is maybe not an 'effortless/mindless listen' - if you fall behind the author you need to stop and go back, and you may have to stop in order to process some things. If you are more interested in finishing the book so that you can have an opinion, than you are in partaking in the journey to gain insights into time and the universe, then I think it will be frustrating. I recommend saving it for when you have time to focus on the narration and reflect.

This riveting narrative explores the lives of six remarkable female pharaohs, from Hatshepsut to Cleopatra - women who ruled with real power - and shines a piercing light on our own perceptions of women in power today. Female rulers are a rare phenomenon - but thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt, women reigned supreme. But throughout human history, women in positions of power were more often used as political pawns in a male-dominated society. What was so special about ancient Egypt that provided women this kind of access to the highest political office?

In Beyond Biocentrism, acclaimed biologist Robert Lanza and astronomer Bob Berman take the listener on an intellectual thrill ride as they reexamine everything we thought we knew about life, death, the universe, and the nature of reality itself. The first step is acknowledging that our existing model of reality is looking increasingly creaky in the face of recent scientific discoveries.

Here's the thing
Revisado: 11-09-18
First of all, let me address the concept of biocentrism and the naysayers:
There are people who desperately look for factual errors in the book, or any books like it, and use that to attempt to take credibility away from the authors and the concept. On the other hand, there are people who will seek to prove the authors to be credible so that they can take the book seriously. Understandable, but not sensible.
Just stop, read or listen to the book, use your own intelligence to evaluate what is being conveyed here. We can't judge a piece of information or wisdom based on who wrote it, or based on a miniscule part. Ironically this -is- one of the most important messages in the book, we have to look at things as a whole if we are to understand. This concept isn't a scientific theory, because the concept itself questions science as a platform to understand the world.
So trying to find scientific proof, which is by definition exclusively a concept of science, to prove a foundation that seeks to transcend science, is obviously pointless. The science parts of this book are there to help you understand, that's all. If you don't want to understand the book, then I would recommend not reading it. If you want to understand it, then start by understanding that it isn't based on science. Because as the book tries to explain (and does so very well) is that the scope of biocentrism is larger than the scope of science. This is not an unreasonable scope of a concept. The idea that the scope of science includes any of the fundamental questions about existence, is simply wrong. That is provable by thinking about it. "Uh real proof requires actual non-subjective data and-" bapp bapp bapp! No it does not, that is called scientific proof. You can (and I am so sad that some people will need to even have this explained to them) prove things with 100% certainty without any concrete data whatsoever.
Are you conscious? Prove it. You can't, but you know with 100% certainty that you are. This is outside the scope of science, so to assume that science is the study of the absolute is just ignorance.
I highly recommend this book. If you are someone who are ignorant enough to believe that nothing is of value without scientific proof, and you are not open to change that perspective, then you will waste your time here.
As for the performance, I can listen to it just fine. The narrator is very, very American. It kinda feels like a 7 hour long movie trailer. I've gotten used to it though, it's all about mindset!

Amazingly insightful
Revisado: 10-13-18
This book has given me a much better understanding of my world and reality.
In the boring and strategically moderated history lessons at school, I only really learned about world war one and two. They call this the history of my people. As if they were more significant than everything that came before it.
This book starts at the very beginning, the first forms of life. Then it takes you on an amaaaazing journey through time, and explains how we got to where we are today. Please don’t let any negative reviews keep you from getting this.
I’m sure that other historians can find flaws in this book. And I have seen some people say that he has some sort of agency or that he promotes personal beliefs. I disagree with that completely, let me explain why.
If you don’t know how civilization came to be, how religion was important to our species, how and why money came to be, or what justice is, or if you are confused about any aspect of how we turned into what we are, then this book will enlighten you. Attacking any flaws of this book misses the point. It’s about understanding how the world works and ultimately how homo sapiens works. When the author talks about different theories for the things that are unclear still, he assumes the position of someone who believes the theory 100%. It’s not meant to be interpreted as him claiming that it’s 100% certain. He does the same thing for all common theories, and then if he sees problems with a theory he mentions what problems he sees.
This book should be taught in school, because it has so much to teach us. I truly and sincerely enjoyed every single second of it, there were never any dull moments. It’s simply packed with insight.
Thank you Yuval for what you have given me through this book. If anyone is in doubt, please my friend just buy it right now and enjoy this thrilling and and dramatic journey through time. It has changed my life forever.

With his bestselling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived “in the now.” In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world.

Wisdom
Revisado: 10-13-18
I have learned that some people, unfortunately, have labeled Eckhart Tolle and the community around him a «cult». Coming from a highly critical family, I can relate to, well, being critical of things. However ironically enough judging something before you have experienced it yourself, based on rumors and /or stubbornness is the opposite of being critical.
This book is not about religion, and it is not part of a cult. Whatever labels you may have associated with it for any reason, do yourself a favor and just listen to it before judging. This book is about something that people throughout history has been trying to tell us.
Ask your heart if any of these things are untrue:
Humans cause immense suffering on other humans and animals.
Humans are full of fear
Humans suffer
We struggle to find ourselves
We are afraid of living our lives the way our hearts wants to live
Be honest with yourself, do you not agree? This book can and will explain the underlying cause, and the solution to all of these problems and more. It becomes obvious as you hear it. If you keep yourself open and actually listen, it will probably change your life forever. If you listen with the intention of finding faults, then you will find faults but you will also miss the point.
Words are sign posts to something greater. If you fixate on the words themselves then you’re missing the point. You have to let the words guide you to that greater thing, the understanding that the words point to.
This book, like all material things imperfect, points towards the truth. Now hear me, there is two aspects that I think you should understand. On one hand, Eckhart shows the undeniable truth of our world. It cannot be denied, it is obvious and it is true. He shows the answer, and it is life-changing and it is true. On the other hand, he is convinced that he knows our nature from the perspective of spirituality as well. I believe him, but regardless if you find that you believe this aspect or not, the problem and the solution is still undeniable! So if you get caught up in any aspect that you can actually doubt, then you are missing the point.
This has changed my life forever. Since I first listened to this soon one year ago, my life has gradually gotten much more beautiful and enjoyable. It’s a process that won’t stop, because the more it matures and as my brain draws connections to the things I’ve learned and learn along the way, the more wisdom it gives me. Everytime I listen to this, I see more wisdom as well. I will always be thankful for the effort put into this amazing and beautiful book. No amount of money or material goods will ever give me anything that can compete with this gift. I sincerely mean that. All my life I have struggled with my own mind. Now I am the master of it, not the other way around.
Now I will address the other books vs this
Yes, Eckhart has quite a few books. You don’t need to have read any other, not at all. This contains all the information you’ll ever need. I have listened to 3 of his books now several times. All books tries to convey the same teachings, and Eckhart is completely honest about this. The thing though, is that they approach the matter slightly differently, and the formats differ a lot. For example The Power Of Now is more of a Q/A based book whereas A New Earth has a more consistent narrative. I think this one is the best, because it has a smooth and almost poetic flow to it. I immediately judged his accent at first but I soon learned to enjoy it (5 mins).
If you do listen to this, and understand it, you may find that you want to listen to some of his other books too. Because the money spent is so insignificant compared to the power behind the wisdom. Like I said though, this book alone is complete.
From one human to another, I sincerely recommend this book. It is the most important book I have ever read / listened to. I now love stronger than before, and hate is no longer a part of me.

In his landmark best seller The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell redefined how we understand the world around us. Now, in Blink, he revolutionizes the way we understand the world within. Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant, in the blink of an eye, that actually aren't as simple as they seem. Why are some people brilliant decision makers, while others are consistently inept?

Revisado: 10-07-17
I actually heard of this book through listening to Richard Rumelt's good strategy / bad strategy of all things. In Rumelt's (excellent) book he briefly mentions Blink maybe only to assert that these gut feelings that we get can not replace or is not an alternative to proper strategy, but acknowledges the premise of this book.
Coming from Rumelt's book I did not feel that I had been sent here with a negative bias, instead I felt the opposite. Planning and good strategy is not an alternative to following a hunch, and this was further emphasized in Blink as well. Blink takes a closer look at these hunches or gut feelings that we get, and why they are so very powerful.
I feel that anyone who tries to argue that this book is trying to present an alternative to planning and strategy hasn't understood the book or the intention of the author. This book and Rumelt's book for me was a perfect mix of two very powerful techniques or abilities that we should all learn to use in our lives. They complement eachother not contradict eachother.

Developing and implementing a strategy is the central task of a leader, whether the CEO at a Fortune 100 company, an entrepreneur, a church pastor, the head of a school, or a government official. Richard Rumelt argues that the heart of a good strategy is insight - into the true nature of the situation, into the hidden power in a situation, and into an appropriate response. He shows you how insight can be cultivated with a wide variety of tools for guiding your own thinking.
