Historia
Doris Grandfelt, an employee at an accounting firm, was brutally stabbed to death . . . but nobody knew exactly where the crime took place. Her body was found the next night, dumped among a dense thicket of trees along the edge of an urban park, eight miles east of St. Paul, Minnesota. Despite her twin sister Lara Grandfelt’s persistent calls to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the killer was never found.

Excellent, but....
Revisado: 05-01-25
This was an excellent story, however I removed a star in my rating because I was so unhappy with the abrupt non-conclusion. What was the rationale for leaving the reader wondering what happens? I've been a long time Sandford fan but this just left me feeling let down.

Great Narrator!
Revisado: 10-27-24
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Even though there are several different characters and time lines that intersect throughout, their stories are all interesting. Through the lens of their different lives, we see the very limited choices women had in a time not so very long ago. Narration was really good. I would recommend this book.

An interesting, imaginative and well written backstory for an old classic, The narration is really good and perfect for the story. I have added this one to my personal "best of 2024" list.

Fast Moving and Engaging

I would highly recommend this character driven story of two sisters living in the south in 1964. The stories of each sister are engaging, compelling, well written and fast moving.

Historia
On January 28, 1742, a ramshackle vessel of patched-together wood and cloth washed up on the coast of Brazil. Inside were thirty emaciated men, barely alive, and they had an extraordinary tale to tell. They were survivors of His Majesty’s Ship the Wager, a British vessel that had left England in 1740 on a secret mission during an imperial war with Spain. While the Wager had been chasing a Spanish treasure-filled galleon known as “the prize of all the oceans,” it had wrecked on a desolate island off the coast of Patagonia.

Great Read
Revisado: 12-08-23
An interesting and well researched book that brings alive the mostly forgotten story of a shipwreck and crew's subsequent fight for survival in the 1700's. The narrator is good, actually one of my favorites, and certainly doesn't deserve some of the negative reviews I've seen here. I read this very quickly, learned a lot and remained very engaged throughout.

Ex-crime reporter Leonard Blaylock spends his days on an unusual hobby, developing strangers’ forgotten and discarded rolls of film. He loves the small mysteries the photographs reveal to him. Then Leonard finds something no one would ever expect, or want, to see captured on film—the murder of a young woman. But that’s impossible, because the woman is already dead. Leonard was there when it happened five years earlier.

Prison for Profit
Revisado: 05-08-23
In the for profit penal system of future America, prisoners with long sentences can sign up for gladiator type games where they will battle to the death. A likely premature death waits, however there is the possibility of three years and freedom. Individual story arcs examine systemic racism, capitalism run wild and consumer appetites. Well written, thought provoking and well narrated.
