I love this series!
Revisado: 04-25-25
I love this series and have bought all 27 audiobooks. These are tough characters and so very capable. However, maybe the narrator could do something about her voice for Page and Nina? They sound like Minnie Mouse, certainly not like FBI agents. As for Sonny, I don’t trust him. He’s a smooth talker and Blake is so above him. And could he please stop calling her Darling on the job?

I forced myself to finish
Revisado: 04-07-25
Ms Mallory, decide: sex/romance or sociopath mystery? There was so much goo in this book, I had to stop occasionally. This borders on porn, not romance. I figured out what was happening long before the book was done. I didn’t really like any of the shallow characters. They all were easily duped by one sociopath.

I once loved Grippando books. Now each one is more tedious. This one deals with Iran and women there and I just couldn’t get into it. The narrator’s voice is annoying. I’m returning this one.

Historia
Summoned to an abandoned theme park to retrieve a body, Dr. Kay Scarpetta is devastated to learn that the victim is a man she once had an intense love affair with. The murder scene is bizarre, with a crop circle of petals around the body, and Giordano’s skin is strangely red. Scarpetta’s niece Lucy believes he was dropped from an unidentified flying craft. Scarpetta knows an autopsy can reveal the dead’s secrets, but she is shocked to find her friend seems to have deliberately left her a clue.

As good as always
Revisado: 11-09-24
Why oh why does Scarpetta keep Moreno? He's the most annoying man in book history. Almost enough to drive me away from the Scarpetta books. Luckily January La Voy is narrating and saves the audiobook.
But Cornwell really should consider killing Moreno off. Or at least firing him.

Just barely over OK
Revisado: 09-01-24
But I could stick with this book because it came from Audible Plus so was free to me. It kind of dragged but I stuck with it. One thing the otherwise good narrator needs to learn is how to pronounce jaguar, which, believe it or not, is said quite often in this book, tho I don't know why since it had no bearing on the story. She pronounced it jag-wire. What? It should be pronounced jag-wire. After a while, it got annoying. Otherwise, not a bad book but I probably won't listen to any more of this author.

Last Breath series
Revisado: 08-30-24
I normally won't listen to books narrated by Laural Merlington. She screeches when she does men's voices. It's like this in every book she narrates. I didn't realize this one was by her, but I'm going to try to finish it since I've listened to all Mariah Stewart's Last series. I don't understand why producers ever use her. I only read bad reviews about her performance.

Narrator problems
Revisado: 08-12-24
Why don’t the producers of audiobooks actually listen to the production? This one, in every book she narrates, constantly goes up and down in volume, with a high shriek of voice thrown in for good measure. So annoying. Unfortunately she narrates all of this series.

Nice to have most of a series to read from Audible Plus. But the narrator! She’s fine for a while and suddenly one of the characters she’sreading will turn the narrated conversation into a screech. Most disconcerting! What is wrong with sound editors?

So many annoying people
Revisado: 05-09-24
There may be some spoilers in this review.
Everybody I encountered in this book was annoying. The main character let everybody walk over her. She was raped but told nobody for six weeks. She let her husband make all the decisions. She let the people who did nothing about her rape get away with it. She knew she wanted an abortion, didn’t want the rapist’s baby, but wouldn’t get an abortion because she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to get pregnant again. ??? She let her mother in law say and do the most outlandish things, even tho her husband would’ve supported her in opposing her. And she whined. Lordy she whined. Sure it was a bad situation but she wouldn’t do anything about it.
It was just an annoying book. I’m glad I only spent $2.99. Authors like this are blights on all us readers.
