Historia
The London summer of 1854 is drawing to a close when a deadly outbreak of cholera grips the city. Florence Nightingale is back on the scene marshaling her nurses to help treat countless suffering patients at Middlesex Hospital as the disease tears through the Soho slums. But beyond the dangers of the disease, something even more evil is seeping through the ailing streets of London. It begins with an attack on the carriage of Florence's friend, Elizabeth Herbert, wife of Secretary at War Sidney Herbert. Elizabeth survives, but her coachman does not.

Wonderful
Revisado: 02-10-22
As a nurse, this book completely engaged me and enriched my practice. It reminded me from whence I came and the importance of bedside nursing. The characters are well rounded. I really enjoyed the history lessons contained within. This book would appeal to those who love mysteries, those who are nurses or physicians, those who love history. Highly recommend!

Loved it!!
Revisado: 12-19-21
This author is a master of creating sexual tension without going into hard core sex scenes. This book has a little something for everyone- historical romance, detective novel, supernatural tale-telling all woven together and mixed with the real struggles of women in the past trying to survive in a man's world, I absolutely loved it!!

I truly loved this . I find it hilarious that one of the characters is named after Sanjay Gupta from CNN. Listening to this book is like going through 2020 again but with a much more deadly virus. Scary!

Another amazing novel by Koontz
Revisado: 11-12-21
This author is able to create a suspenseful, fantastical story and, at the same time, weave into it a little smidgeon of world events and some food for thought.
When I am listening to a Koontz novel, I can see through the narrator's eyes and hear through the narrator's ears. It's a little bit of a mini vacay. Don't listen to any bad reviews. This one is definitely worth the credit.

Now no longer that wide-eyed child, Gabe is fresh out of prison, a leather-clad biker answering Grandaddy’s peremptory summons to, of all places, a cowboy bar in Northern Arizona. He is about to find out just how different he is from “most people” - and to meet the stranger with whom he will be sealed: life and limb, blood and bone, conscripted to fight an unholy war unlike any other.

Rich and entertaining
Revisado: 11-02-21
I had very low expectations from this title as it was included in the Audible Plus and those can be pretty much hit or miss. This book was very very good. The characters Remy and Gabe are endearing and thoroughly human. Since I can also be a Netflix binger, I was pleasantly surprised to find elements similar to "Lucifer" and "Supernatural." I felt immediate kinship :)
Highly recommend!

Historia
Do you dare step through the red door? Spencer Grant had no idea what drew him to the bar with the red door. He thought he would just sit down, have a slow beer or two, and talk to a stranger. He couldn’t know that it would lead to a narrow escape from a bungalow targeted by a SWAT team. Or that it would leave him a wanted man. But now Spencer is on the run from mysterious and ruthless men. He is in love with a woman he knows next to nothing about. And he is hiding from a past he can’t fully remember.

Addictive
Revisado: 10-28-21
The storyline is very unique and with well developed interesting characters (Koontz is the king at this). Parts of this story are pretty dark (typical Koontz) but there are moments of raw emotion and humor also. I looked forward day to day picking up the story where I had paused it the day before. Pretty long but flowed smoothly and provided hours of entertainment. Definitely recommend.

Do not believe any bad reviews! This book is very well written and perfectly narrated. The characters were brought to life through the writing and narrating, and I felt I knew each one intimately by books end. This piece of literature fires the imagination and transported me to a beautiful old mansion where magical beings (perhaps) exist. I loved it!!

A strange phenomenon is sweeping the globe. People are having visions, seeing angels, experiencing events that defy reality. Bizarre accounts pour in from distant places: a French teenager claims to have witnessed Joan of Arc being burned at the stake; a man in New York dies of malnutrition in a luxurious Central Park apartment; a fundamentalist Christian sect kidnaps and murders a geneticist.

Exciting and intriguing premise
Revisado: 09-30-21
Expertly written with numerous parallels to our current world theater (politically, socially). Of course, the narrator is phenomenal!! I lost the story about 3/4 of the way through and was unable to reconnect. I did finish this book and would recommend it, but it becomes tedious in some places, If you are a scientifically minded person who likes thrillers with a touch of psychiatry and a touch of physics, then this is just the book for you. If you are a rather religious person, you may be offended.
