Historia
The beaten, bound and mutilated bodies of three 8-year-olds, Christopher Byers, Michael Moore and Stevie Branch, were pulled from a muddy ditch in a wooded area in West Memphis, Ark., on May 6, 1993. The boys had gone missing the day before. Weeks of investigation led to arrests of Damien Echols, 18, Jason Baldwin, 16, and Jessie Misskelley Jr. on June 3, 1993, after the 17-year-old Misskelley confessed that he and two friends murdered the boys. All three were convicted. The convictions held up on appeal. Eventually, thanks to Hollywood celebrities and misleading documentaries, the killers ...

No compelling evidence of guilt
Revisado: 05-19-24
I learned some interesting tidbits about the backgrounds of Echols & Baldwin but nothing that points to their guilt beyond what’s widely known. Relies heavily on things Misskelley said during his many ‘confessions’ that are easily explained and/or debunked. World class forensic pathologists have addressed the rape and mutilation claims. I’m always looking for things to challenge my views on things. This one didn’t do it for me. I’m still in the WM3 are innocent camp.

Historia
When an improvised explosive device is found outside a hospital, the understaffed Middleton PD knows it’s up against a pro. No one takes credit for the sophisticated device—all that Detective Jake Sloan has to go on is a poem. The cryptic rhyme surfaced shortly after the bomb scare. But ex-soldier and football player Sloan has never been much of a poetry buff. When a second verse turns up, containing a message in code, he solicits the help of English professor Ciara Hawkins.

Enjoyed this one

All was good and I liked the shorter length. Despite that, this one packs a wallop that I didn’t see coming. No spoilers but you should listen to it.

Narrator kills it a little
Revisado: 05-13-22
Christine is my favorite King novel so I had high hopes. The narrator uses too many ‘voices’ and, to me, it’s annoying. He makes LeBay, who is quite sinister, sound like Scooby Doo voiced by Michael J Fox. I often wish the narrators would just read instead of act (like King himself does). In this case, the narrator has a nice voice if he’d just stick to that.

Historia
The Pyramids and the Pentagon is a detailed study of how and why government agencies have, for decades, taken a clandestine and profound interest in numerous archeological, historical, and religious puzzles. Focusing primarily upon the classified work of the U.S. Government, The Pyramids and the Pentagon invites you to take a wild ride into the fog-shrouded past.

Decent Primer

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would, provided they weren't familiar with the bare essentials of the subject matter.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I think perhaps a deeper dive into fewer subjects would have been more enjoyable.
What aspect of Peter Jude’s performance would you have changed?
He came across as sarcastic to me.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Already covered in many documentaries... in greater depth.
Any additional comments?
I'm not denigrating this work, it's a solid 3 star book. I think it should have included the word 'overview' somewhere in the title.
Also, Redfern seems a HUGE fan of the adverb. At one point I was chuckling at the fact that he managed to get four of them into a single sentence! Right around the middle of the book it's adverb central so be prepared... or should I say listen preparedly?
