Historia
The complete Samantha Moon Origins trilogy of vampire mysteries, including: NEW MOON RISING (Book #1) Samantha Moon hadn't always been a vampire. Once, she had been a wife and mother, happily married to her soul mate and raising two adorable kids. She had also been a federal agent investigating a world teeming with sophisticated scams, drugs, human trafficking and violence. She had hippie parents and a caring sister. She had a small home with an irritatingly detached garage. She had friends, colleagues and normalcy. That is, until she caught the eye of something evil... But first, she had a...

Finally finished
Revisado: 12-31-24
I reviewed this 3 part story before listening to part 3, and it mostly got worse.
The story wasn't bad, it's the false starts that go nowhere and the AI reading that's most annoying. Having P.I. as in private investigator pronounced as if it was a desert or algebra equation and M.O. as in motive of operation pronounced as "moe" is just gut wrenching.
There's no way I will listen to another audio books read by AI.

Historia
1945. In the waning months of World War II, Japan hid vast quantities of gold and other stolen valuables in boobytrapped underground caches all across the Philippines. By 1947 some of that loot was recovered, not by treasure hunters, but by the United States government, which told no one about the find. Instead, those assets were stamped classified, shipped to Europe, and secretly assimilated into something called the Black Eagle Trust.

Another Great "what if"
Revisado: 04-02-24
As with most Steve Berry novels, I learned a lot about something I was not very familiar with. Cotton Malone is an intriguing character with As many flaws as attributes, making him all the more realistic.
mostly though, I was thoroughly entertained by this action packed story.

Historia
The year is 1895. London is scared. A killer haunts the city's streets. The poor are hungry. Crime bosses are taking control. The police force is stretched to the breaking point. The rich turn to Sherlock Holmes, but the celebrated private detective rarely visits the densely populated streets of South London, where the crimes are sleazier and the people are poorer. In the dark corner of Southwark, victims turn to a man who despises Holmes, his wealthy clientele, and his showy forensic approach to crime: Arrowood.

Puts You in the Time Period
Revisado: 03-22-24
I really enjoyed this story. I felt like I was in 19th century England around the time of Jack the Ripper and Sherlock Holmes. The twists and turns of the story line made me try to guess what was actually going on, only to continually surprise me.

absolutely horrible, not in a good way!
Revisado: 03-04-24
Looks like King can no longer control his personal opinions on politics and social issues. I could go no further than half an hour of listening due to the extreme Progressive attitude of every character.
I love the Holly character in previous King novels, but not enough to be preached to about politics and social aspects of life.
I wouldn't recommend this book to even my most liberal minded friends. It's pure social engineering rhetoric.

Mostly Lost
Revisado: 12-26-23
I could not get a feel for characters or places due to a lack of initial information about them.
Characters are disjointed, jumping from one state of mind to another with no explanations.
Seems like the author was trying to emulate the book Dune but ended up with more of the movie script.
It doesn't help that I had trouble understanding the readers accent. In the very beginning I thought she was saying birdies when she was talking about bodies.
Simply too much work to figure out what's going on.

Instructor fails to be unbiased
Revisado: 12-10-23
No matter how much the instructor tells us to put our political and social biases aside, he fails epically to do so himself. The instructor is very obviously a biased Progressive.

In Rooted, cutting-edge science supports a truth that poets, artists, mystics, and earth-based cultures across the world have proclaimed over millennia: Life on this planet is radically interconnected. Our bodies, thoughts, minds, and spirits are affected by the whole of nature, and they affect this whole in return. In this time of crisis, how can we best live upon our imperiled, beloved earth? Award-winning writer Lyanda Lynn Haupt’s highly personal new book is a brilliant invitation to live with the earth in both simple and profound ways.

Not my thing
Revisado: 12-09-23
I can't say I dislike this book, it's just a bit too tree hugging for me. The author seems to reject an intelligent design to nature without providing any rational explanation for the wonders of nature she is in awe of. I do respect the attitude that mankind should work on being one with nature rather than believing we have control over nature. if you own an EV, you will definitely like this book.

Historia
One of the most influential works of this century, The Myth of Sisyphus and Other Essays is a crucial exposition of existentialist thought. Influenced by works such as Don Juan and the novels of Kafka, these essays begin with a meditation on suicide; the question of living or not living in a universe devoid of order or meaning.

Historia
Most historians study the smallest slivers of time, emphasizing specific dates, individuals, and documents. But what would it look like to study the whole of history, from the big bang through the present day - and even into the remote future? How would looking at the full span of time change the way we perceive the universe, the earth, and our very existence? These were the questions David Christian set out to answer when he created the field of "Big History", the most exciting new approach to understanding where we have been, where we are, and where we are going.

Speculate to Progressive rhetoric
Revisado: 11-21-23
I really enjoyed listening to the mostly speculative yet rational origins of the Universe and planet Earth. Unfortunately, the author gradually digressed into fear mongering environmental claims that are so popular without much rationality at all.
