Historia
In Dangerous Personalities, former FBI profiler Joe Navarro shows listeners how to identify the four most common "dangerous personalities", and analyze how much of a threat each one can be: the Narcissist, the Predator, the Paranoid, and the Unstable Personality. Along the way, listeners learn how to protect themselves both immediately and long-term - as well as how to recover from the trauma of being close to such a destructive force.

Not a good fit for audio, and didn't like the reader
Revisado: 02-24-24
I purchased this because of an interest in the content and the high reviews. I still believe this book MAY contain valuable information, but the author's penchant for extremely long lists does not make this a good fit for audio format.
The long lists combined with the reader's grating voice and melodramatic style prevents me from listening for very long at a time. I can only tolerate 10-15 minutes. Two months after starting this, I am only half way through and have listened to 3 other books between attempts at this one.
I am currently considering giving up and trying it in print, but I haven't checked to see if it is available yet.

Historia
On Combat looks at what happens to the human body under the stresses of deadly battle and the impact on the nervous system, heart, breathing, visual and auditory perception, memory - then discusses new research findings as to what measure warriors can take to prevent such debilitations so they can stay in the fight, survive, and win. A brief, but insightful look at history shows the evolution of combat, the development of the physical and psychological leverage that enables humans to kill other humans, followed by an objective examination of domestic violence in America.

Not believable and too many inconsistencies
Revisado: 06-14-16
I have read and listened to a lot of prepper fiction, so the subject matter is not the problem. Too many of the scenarios have implausible timelines and inconsistencies. there are way better prepper books out there.

Decent
Revisado: 10-28-15
The book wasn't particularly well-written and the narration was a little stilted at times but the subject matter was compelling and kept my interest in spite of the above mentioned concerns. Will continue with the rest of the series.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

never gets better
Revisado: 12-05-14
What was most disappointing about Donna Tartt’s story?
Mind-numbingly dull and over written. Drags out to the point that I couldn't even finish the book.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator is the only reason I listened as long as I did.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Goldfinch?
About half of them. Doesn't matter which ones because they are all the same.
Any additional comments?
Very disappointing.
