The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those don't. As the kingdoms of Erilea fracture around her, enemies must become allies if Aelin is to keep those she loves from falling to the dark forces poised to claim her world. With war looming on all horizons, the only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.

Historia
Nearly a century has passed since the world was devastated by pandemics and wars that wiped out over 90 percent of the Earth’s population. To assure the survival of mankind, the leaders of the rebuilt city of Haven are breeding a better human race: meaning those deemed too stupid, too weak, too poor - too “unfit” - are arrested and forcibly sterilized.

Great Listen

I received this book in return for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher, author and Story Origin.
Synopsis: John Hunter’s future will be determined by a single test – the Genetic Fitness Evaluation. Acceptance, opportunity, love – it’s all his for the taking if he passes. But if he fails he will be branded as an Unfit, imprisoned in Emerson Asylum, and his life will be all but over.
Review: The audio itself was well done. I was able to listen to the book and the narrator was able to pull me in well with their voice and reading.
The book was an amazing listen/read and I really hard a hard time pausing and doing other things I needed to do.
The book is centered around John. John has been deemed Unfit. This title is reserved for those who are not up to the standards of this dystopian paradise. There is a good build up and growth of the characters. It has good pacing which is really important when you are listening and not reading it yourself. The dialog is good throughout and the author was able to portray the character's emotions quite well and the narrator did an excellent job conveying that while reading.
I feel like my only issue with the book was the ending, only because I feel so many things were left unanswered. I do hope however, that it only means there will soon be a sequel.
